It is forecasted that from the night of August 16 to August 18, the northeastern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An regions will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 50-120mm, locally very heavy rain over 250mm, especially in the northern mountainous region 30-80mm, some places over 150mm. On the night of August 16, the Central Highlands and the South will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 20-40mm, locally very heavy rain over 80mm.

On the day and night of August 17, Ha Tinh and Quang Tri areas will have moderate to heavy rain with common rainfall of 30-70mm, locally very heavy rain over 120mm.

In addition, on the night of August 16, the northwest region, the area from Ha Tinh to Hue and the South Central Coast will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall of 10-30mm, locally over 80mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain (>100mm/3 hours). During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

On the night of August 18 and 19, the Northern region and Thanh Hoa will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 30-80mm, locally over 150mm.

Heavy rain can cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban and industrial areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes.

Weather forecast for regions across the country from the night of August 16 to August 18:

Northeastern region and Thanh Hoa, Nghe An: Moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain.

Northwestern region: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain.

Areas from Ha Tinh to Da Nang and the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak: There are scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain.
