On July 20, the 115 Emergency Center of Khanh Hoa province announced that a security guard and the center's team had miraculously saved a patient who had suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest on Nha Trang beach.

At around 7:30 a.m. the same day, after swimming in the sea, Mr. TVT (67 years old, residing in Khanh Hoa) suddenly had difficulty breathing, turned purple, and collapsed on the sand.

The incident was discovered by Mr. Tran Do Trong Dai, a security guard working at Khanh Hoa General Hospital.

Realizing that the man had stopped breathing, Mr. Dai performed CPR, called the 115 Emergency Center, turned on the speakerphone to receive direct instructions from medical staff, and mobilized people to help.

3 minutes later, the 115 emergency team arrived to rescue him. At this time, Mr. T. was in a deep coma and was diagnosed with respiratory arrest, suspected to be due to cardiovascular disease.

At the beach, the emergency team continued to perform chest compressions, intubate, squeeze the oxygen balloon, and inject adrenaline through the endotracheal tube and vein. After 10 minutes of resuscitation, the patient had a pulse and a gasping reflex and was rushed to Khanh Hoa General Hospital.

At the emergency department, the patient was awake, opened his eyes, moved his arms and legs, breathed weakly, and his vital signs gradually stabilized.

The patient is currently being monitored in the intensive care and anti-poison department.

A representative of Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital said that timely first aid in the community is the decisive factor.

"Without Mr. Dai's proper intervention before the emergency team arrived, the victim would have had little chance of recovery," he said.

Khanh Hoa 115 Emergency Center recommends that every minute of delay in cardiac arrest reduces the chance of survival by 7-10%. With proper chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, anyone can save a life.

In case people are not confident to do it, immediately call the nearest medical facility, turn on the speakerphone to receive detailed instructions step by step while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.
