On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), on August 29, in Hanoi , Nhan Dan Newspaper held a ceremony to receive the copyright of the song "As if Uncle Ho were with us on the day of great victory" by musician Pham Tuyen.
Musician Pham Tuyen is one of the representative musicians of Vietnamese revolutionary music , with a huge collection of about 700 works. Composed on the evening of April 28, 1975, upon hearing the news that our army had entered Saigon, “As if Uncle Ho were here on the day of great victory” was completed by musician Pham Tuyen in just 2 hours.

The song was recorded and broadcast in the special news bulletin of Voice of Vietnam on April 30, 1975, announcing the historic victory of liberating the South and unifying the country. The heroic melody and lyrics “Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh!” have become a symbol of great solidarity, the desire for independence and national pride, echoing in the hearts of Vietnamese people for many generations.
To meet the demand for using the song in non-profit activities and spreading the cultural and spiritual values of the song, musician Pham Tuyen and his family decided to give Nhan Dan Newspaper the right to manage the manuscript and copyright of the song.
The event of presenting the copyright of the song “As if Uncle Ho were here on the great victory day” is part of a series of meaningful activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 of Nhan Dan Newspaper, spreading patriotism, national pride and solidarity among all classes of people, while honoring the great contributions of musician Pham Tuyen to Vietnamese music.

Speaking at the award ceremony, journalist Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association affirmed that the song “As if Uncle Ho were here on the great victory day” has become a triumphant song of the spirit of great solidarity and the desire for independence. With its majestic melody and lyrics “Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh!”, the song is not only a symbol of national pride but also arouses patriotism, inspiring generations with the indomitable will and values of Independence - Freedom - Happiness.
Regarding this meaningful gift, journalist Le Quoc Minh shared that while implementing programs to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, Nhan Dan Newspaper unexpectedly received a request to present the song “As if Uncle Ho were here on the great victory day” from musician Pham Tuyen and his family. Among the good songs about the country, this is the one that is played at most events.

At the award ceremony, Associate Professor, Doctor, musician Do Hong Quan, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, said that the song "As if Uncle Ho were here on the day of great victory" has accompanied the years of history, becoming a spiritual value, adding provisions for many generations to continue to step forward and continue to strive over the past decades.

“The works of musician Pham Tuyen not only live forever but also inspire the nation's faith and hope as the whole country enters a new era - the era of growth,” musician Do Hong Quan expressed.
Speaking on behalf of musician Pham Tuyen’s family at the ceremony, Ms. Pham Hong Tuyen – the musician’s daughter said that the family was very moved to send a wish: to return the song “As if Uncle Ho were here on the great victory day” to a place worthy of preservation and dissemination. Ms. Pham Hong Tuyen said: “In the family, we often say to each other: “As if Uncle Ho were here on the great victory day” is a song of the people. My father always kept in mind that music only truly lives when it belongs to the community. Therefore, when we decided to give all the rights to manage and use the song to Nhan Dan Newspaper, it was our way of continuing that spirit - handing over the work to a public institution, where the mission and capacity to preserve common values, manage its use for the benefit of the people, serve the Fatherland, and not for commercial purposes.”
