Nguyen Thi Oanh has a successful start at the 2025 National Athletics Championship

On the morning of August 9, Nguyen Thi Oanh competed in the women's 5,000m event. This is an event in which the athlete born in 1995 has no domestic rival. That is why she has won the championship for many years.

This time, Nguyen Thi Oanh continued to win. At the start, the athletes used a chasing strategy. But with her class and extensive experience, Nguyen Thi Oanh quickly broke away. She finished after 16 minutes 28 seconds 78, winning the gold medal.

This is still not her best result yet. In May at the Asian Championships, she finished in 15 minutes 46.11 seconds, breaking the national record.

The runner-up in the women's 5,000m event on the morning of August 9 was Le Thi Tuyet, an athlete from Dak Lak . Although only 21 years old, she has a lot of experience competing in arenas such as the SEA Games or amateur marathons. The bronze medal winner was Bui Thi Thu Ha, an athlete from Thanh Hoa.

Meanwhile, the silver medalist of SEA Games 31 (held in 2022), Pham Thi Hong Le, did not compete well. She only finished in fourth place with a time of 16 minutes 50 seconds 67.

The National Athletics Championship took place from August 9 to 13 in Da Nang , gathering 480 athletes from 32 participating units. All the best athletes in Vietnam participated in the tournament such as: Nguyen Thi Oanh, Quach Thi Lan, Nguyen Trung Cuong, Tran Dinh Son, Ngan Ngoc Nghia, ...
