This is an important milestone opening a new and promising development step for Duy Tan University to continue promoting international cooperation, especially contributing to improving the quality of training and scientific research, meeting the needs of society and the labor market in these two key professions.
New Leadership, New Vision
Graduated with a Master's degree from Columbia University and defended his PhD thesis at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Dr. Phan Chi Thanh is an expert in the field of International Relations. Before working at Duy Tan University, he made many important contributions to the field of Vietnam's diplomacy . In particular, he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Thailand for the 2020-2024 term.

With extensive experience as a consultant for the World Bank (WB) in Washington DC and important contributions to Vietnam's foreign policies, Dr. Phan Chi Thanh participated in Vietnam's WTO accession negotiations, worked as Director of the International Relations Department at the Government Office, and was Secretary General of the National Council for Sustainable Development before taking up a diplomatic mission in Thailand.
Impressed by the creative and progressive learning spirit of Duy Tan University students and the development strategy of the University, Dr. Phan Chi Thanh accepted the invitation to become the Head of the Faculty of International Relations & Public Relations. From practical experience through many working positions, Dr. Phan Chi Thanh is determined to create an international model in training and research at the Faculty of International Relations & Public Relations (FIPA), Duy Tan University, similar to the training and research model that the world's leading universities are applying.
Dr. Phan Chi Thanh shared: " As someone who has directly participated in Vietnam's diplomatic activities and international relations, I clearly understand the important role of the young generation in shaping the country's position in the international arena. Therefore, the vision of the Faculty is to become the leading center for training, research and practical academic connection in Vietnam and the region, contributing to improving the capacity of foreign affairs, international trade, communication, and human resource development for the country's global integration process ".
Dr. Phan Chi Thanh works with a number of staff and lecturers of the Faculty.
In close collaboration with the Center for Global Studies (CGS) of Duy Tan University, the Faculty is simultaneously conducting important discussions and research collaborations with the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and a number of major universities around the world. Under the leadership of Dr. Phan Chi Thanh, the Faculty of International Relations & Public Affairs (FIPA) will contribute to the development of research collaboration initiatives on the following models:
- Free Trade Zones (FTZs), and
- International Finance Center
is being formed in Vietnam, joining hands to support the economic development of the country and Da Nang.
Differentiated Training Program expands employment opportunities for students
Faculty of International Relations & Public Relations, Duy Tan University is currently training in the following majors:
- International Relations (Major Code: 7310206),
- Public Relations (Industry Code: 7320108), and
- Vietnam Studies (Major Code: 7310630)
with a master's and doctoral training program in International Relations (the first and only in the Central region).
Each major has scientifically and systematically designed training programs, aiming to equip students with in-depth knowledge and practical skills in the fields of international relations, communications, foreign affairs and public affairs. Undertaking the training work is a team of lecturers with high academic titles and degrees, many of whom have studied and conducted research at prestigious educational institutions in the US, China, Belgium, etc.
Students of DTU Public Relations major study with a synchronous and professional system of facilities, specifically:
- Duy Tan Graphics Center and Silver Swallows Studio (SSS) right at the school always provide effective support for training in filming, photography, post-production, production skills...
- DTU students get to participate in practical work at Marketing & Communications units, Go Stork magazine, DTU Science & Technology magazine, etc.
Modern facilities support students of Public Relations and Communications at DTU
Students of International Relations and Vietnamese Studies at DTU have access to training programs in many fields: politics - diplomacy, economics, society and culture of countries, with foreign languages accounting for a large volume. Graduates of DTU International Relations are currently working in many positions such as: teaching and researching at research institutes and higher education institutions in the country and internationally, experts at non-governmental organizations, police, flight attendants, receptionists at hotels and restaurants... Typical students include Vo Mau Thuong , currently a PhD student at Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetem University (Hungary) and many other alumni who have obtained doctoral degrees and are currently working in many places in and outside the country.
Right from the first year, students of the Faculty can participate in research projects or diverse exchange and internship programs such as with Thammasat University (Thailand), Palermo University (Italy)...
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thu My - Chairman of the Faculty's Scientific Council shared: " We are committed to training high-quality human resources to meet the foreign affairs and economic development needs of Da Nang and the region in the coming years, especially when the city implements the Free Trade Zone and International Financial Center ".

Students make their mark with outstanding achievements
Faculty of International Relations & Public Relations, DTU is home to many excellent students, including:
- Valedictorian of Duy Tan University 2023: H' Mi Sa Kbuôr scored 28.25/30 points and is studying Public Relations.
- Student Nguyen Pham Thanh Tuyen , majoring in International Relations, received a scholarship from the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong - Koo (CMK) Foundation to study in Korea at Seoul National University.
- Student Nguyen Tan Tri - Third Prize of Da Nang cluster in the Stat Awards National English Competition for the 2024-2025 school year,
- Student Le Nhu Doan Ha , a student majoring in Public Relations at DTU, won the runner-up title at the 2024 Quang Nam Province MC Contest...
The awards and scholarships that the Faculty's students have achieved not only affirm their outstanding abilities but also demonstrate the quality of the school's training.
