Thai woman freed after hours of being strangled by python

According to the image recorded by the camera, Ms. Arom was washing dishes at home when she felt pain in her leg and discovered that the python was biting her. Then, the python wrapped tightly around her body, causing her to fall to the ground.

She screamed for help but no one heard her at first. Eventually, a neighbor heard her screams and called the police. Major Anusorn Wongmalee said when police arrived, they were shocked to find her tied up on the floor with the python wrapped around her waist.

It took rescuers about 30 minutes to free her, and she was taken to hospital for treatment. The python later escaped and police were unable to catch it.

Thailand is home to about 250 species of pythons, including three large ones. Although they are not venomous, they can constrict their prey to suffocate it. Last year, about 12,000 people were treated for python attacks in Thailand, with 26 deaths.

Arom’s case is the second to make headlines recently. Last month, a man was bitten by a python while sitting in the shower but survived by fighting off the snake with a toothbrush before calling for help.
