Deputy Director of Urban Railway Company No. 1, Van Thi Huu Tam, said that the AFC automatic toll collection system (under CP3 package) will be deployed on the entire route, including 4 types of cards: Single-trip card, 1-day card, 3-day card and top-up card.

Specifically, the single-trip card has a deposit of VND 15,000/card, applicable for one trip on the day of issuance; the 1-day card and 3-day card have a deposit of VND 35,000/card, allowing passengers to travel unlimitedly on the day of registration or for 3 consecutive days from the time the card is scanned through the ticket gate. The top-up card has a deposit of VND 35,000/card, with a minimum top-up amount of VND 10,000 and a maximum of VND 5,000,000 (excluding the deposit).

Passengers can purchase cards at ticket vending machines (TVM) with cash in denominations ranging from 1,000 to 200,000 VND. After selecting the card type, itinerary and payment, the card is issued with a receipt (if required). At the end of the trip, passengers can return the card at the Fare Adjustment Machine (FAM) to receive their deposit back.

Ticket prices have been issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. Accordingly, one-way tickets cost from 7,000 to 20,000 VND, depending on the distance traveled. A one-day ticket costs 40,000 VND/person/day, a three-day ticket costs 90,000 VND/person, and can be used for an unlimited number of trips on the day of registration. Top-up tickets are deducted from the fee corresponding to the distance traveled (7,000 to 20,000 VND/trip).

Single-trip cards are valid on the day of issue, 1-day and 3-day cards are valid for 15 days from the date of issue, and top-up cards need to have at least one transaction in each 30-day period to maintain validity. In case there is no transaction in the above period, the card will be automatically locked, passengers need to contact the ticket counter to check the information and reactivate the card.

The operation of the AFC automatic toll collection system on metro line 1 is expected to contribute to changing public transport usage habits, promoting cashless payments, improving passenger experience, and aiming to develop a modern and civilized public transport system.
