Responding to major policies of the Party and State

Taking care of housing for the people, especially those with revolutionary contributions, poor households, and households affected by natural disasters, has always been of interest to the Party and State, and is considered a key task of social security and sustainable poverty reduction.

In Resolution No. 42-NQ/TW dated November 24, 2023 of the 8th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee, one of the main goals by 2030 is: "Completely eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, near-poor households, and people affected by natural disasters and climate change".

General Secretary To Lam is particularly interested in this goal. At many conferences, Comrade To Lam has given strong directions, requiring the entire political system, from the central to local levels, to urgently take action. Previously, when he was Minister of Public Security , he also mobilized and built many houses for poor households, especially in remote areas, contributing to ensuring social security associated with political security stability.

Implementing the Party and State's policy, in 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh launched the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" nationwide. The goal is to basically eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025, reaching the finish line 5 years ahead of schedule, practically celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2 and moving towards the 14th National Party Congress.

This is not only a political task but also a responsibility from the heart, so that people can "settle down and make a living", gradually rising out of poverty. With the close direction of the Prime Minister, the strong cooperation of ministries, branches and localities, the whole country has achieved impressive results: basically eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, with many creative ways, promoting the combined strength of the State and the People.

This success is of great significance, demonstrating the high determination of the entire Party and people in the sustainable poverty reduction effort, while affirming the superior nature of our regime: not sacrificing fairness, social progress, social security or the environment to pursue mere growth.

Trillions of VND, thousands of hearts for one goal of helping people "settle down and have a happy life"

For many years, the banking industry has always been a pioneer in social security, poverty reduction, especially supporting funding for house construction for the poor.

Since 2015, the banking sector has spent more than VND15,500 billion on social security activities, most of which has been used to support housing construction for poor households, especially in disadvantaged localities such as Dien Bien and Tuyen Quang.

Imbued with the meaning of the movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" launched by the Prime Minister and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, banks and credit institutions have promoted their role as role models, mobilizing cadres, civil servants and workers to accompany and support in many forms.

In April 2024, at the Prime Minister's launching ceremony in Hoa Binh, seven commercial banks pledged to donate VND220 billion, of which VND100 billion was through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. In October 2024, at the "Warm Home for My People" program, the banking sector continued to pledge VND1,000 billion. After that, banks added an additional VND513 billion to the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in many localities.

In early 2025, in response to the 350-day peak period launched by the Prime Minister, the Governor of the State Bank and the Vietnam Banking Trade Union called on officials, union members, and employees to donate at least one day's salary to build 1,000 houses. As a result, the entire industry donated VND82 billion, enough to build 1,366 houses, exceeding the original target by 36.6%.

Representative of Vietcombank, Mr. Ho Van Tuan - Deputy General Director presented a symbolic plaque to donate a social security package worth 15 billion VND to Thanh Hoa province.

Since April 2024, the banking industry has mobilized more than VND 1,815.75 billion, equivalent to building more than 30,000 new houses. This number is a huge resource, and at the same time demonstrates the sharing and social responsibility of banking staff and employees towards the community.

One of the important experiences of the banking industry is communication work. Right from the launch, the State Bank has directed synchronous and extensive implementation in many forms: from directive documents, party cell activities, trade union activities to modern communication through electronic information portals and social networks.

Thanks to that, the movement's goals and humanistic meaning were strongly spread, arousing a sense of responsibility and high consensus throughout the system. Effective communication became the foundation for mobilizing voluntary response from cadres and employees, creating collective strength, contributing to the movement achieving outstanding results.

Every contribution, no matter how small, when combined in a large group, becomes an important resource, affirming the image of the banking industry as a pioneer for the community.

In the coming time, the Banking industry will continue to promote the tradition of humanity and solidarity, accompany social security programs, contribute to improving people's lives, and realize the aspiration of building a prosperous and happy country.

Mr. Minh
