The spillover effect of successfully hosting the National Tourism Year 2023, Binh Thuan tourism is showing strong progress, and affirming itself as one of the three economic pillars of the province. In addition, the development of the "smokeless industry" has also attracted a significant number of workers to directly and indirectly work in the tourism sector... However, despite showing impressive growth in the number of visitors and revenue in recent years, Binh Thuan tourism still faces many difficulties and challenges. Especially the requirement for professional training for the workforce at enterprises, accommodation establishments, and tourism services to ensure quality service to tourists.

Identifying this as an important task, the locality has also paid attention to training, fostering and developing human resources for Binh Thuan tourism in many appropriate forms. In the past year alone, vocationaltraining institutions in the province have recruited and trained in the tourism sector for more than 3,000/16,860 people (accounting for 17.85%). Focusing on a number of tourism service professions such as: English, Hotel and Restaurant Business Administration and Tourism, Resort Management, Reception Services, Hotel and Restaurant Services, Tour Guide, Beverage Preparation, Room Service, Restaurant Service (Counter)... However, compared to the general requirements, the province's tourism human resources still lack a team of good hotel managers, while the professional skills of the staff are not high, especially in terms of foreign language communication skills.

Recently, this issue continued to be "dug up" at the Seminar on training, fostering, and developing human resources for tourism in Binh Thuan, co-organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the end of May 2025. Accordingly, it was noted that in the past, the locality had more than 22,000 workers in the tourism sector, but only about 35% were properly trained in their majors, mainly concentrated in 3-5 star hotels and resorts... Faced with this situation, many opinions said that the locality should focus on training and fostering human resources for tourism according to the trend of digital transformation, meeting the increasing demands of the market and international integration.

Discussing this content, MSc. Phan Buu Toan - Vice Principal of Saigon College of Tourism also proposed a number of groups of synchronous solutions suitable to local conditions. Regarding specialized foreign languages, it is possible to increase training in English or other foreign languages ​​according to the target market of Binh Thuan tourism. Regarding soft skills, it is necessary to consider organizing seminars on communication and behavior, service culture, crisis management, customer care, and teamwork skills. Regarding digital transformation, it is necessary to build a digital learning resource warehouse, guide the use of hotel management software (PMS) and tour operation software (CRM), promote the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in tourism activities, etc.

Through training human resources as well as adapting to digital transformation trends, tourism businesses will be able to comprehensively manage accommodation activities (such as booking, reception, room service, payment, customer care, etc.) to optimize operations and improve service quality. Along with that, it also supports the management of customer information, tour booking history, customer care before - during - after the trip. At the same time, integrating sales processes, tour coordination, schedule management, costs and operational personnel to improve business efficiency as well as tourism experience... Through flexible training models suitable for practice, focusing on digital transformation will be the foundation to contribute to increasingly improving the quality of Binh Thuan tourism human resources, meeting the requirements of rapid and sustainable development in the new period.
