Banks warn of fraudulent gold bar trading tricks, when going to a gold shop, pay attention to a sign

Major banks such as Agribank and Vietcombank have just issued warnings to customers about fraudulent tricks in gold bar trading.

Recently, some subjects have impersonated the brands of large gold bar, jewelry and fine art businesses such as SJC, DOJI , Bao Tin Minh Chau, Phu Quy... with fraudulent tricks such as impersonating websites, fanpages, social network accounts of these businesses; using similar domain names, interfaces and logos to create confusion with official pages, thereby defrauding and appropriating customers' money.

The subjects posted fake information about gold/silver prices, promotions, high discounts, and big rewards to attract buyers.

Or invite to buy/sell gold online, commit high profits, pay interest daily, weekly to commit illegal acts.

They also send messages and emails impersonating businesses or leaders of gold/silver companies to announce winning prizes, collect information and data of customers and people to commit illegal acts; take advantage of leaked personal information, impersonate acquaintances and employees of gold/silver companies to approach and scam by phone and through other social networking applications.

To protect their assets and legitimate rights, banks recommend that customers always carefully check websites, fanpages, links, and verify business information through official channels.

According to Agribank 's recommendations, customers should only buy and sell gold at licensed establishments with signs clearly stating "Location licensed by the State Bank to buy and sell gold bars" and publicly post a certified copy of the Business License to buy and sell gold bars issued by the State Bank in an easily observable place.

Never provide personal information, accounts, or OTP codes to anyone, including those claiming to be bank employees or affiliated businesses.

If you detect signs of fraud or suspect property appropriation, quickly contact the nearest police agency.

In a recently issued recommendation, Vietcombank said that from August 27, 2024, the bank will only sell gold bars to customers on the VCB Digibank application, and will stop providing services to schedule purchases of SJC gold bars on the website and payment transactions for purchases of SJC gold bars at the counter.

Vietcombank only contacts and receives transaction instructions on the bank's official website. At the same time, customers are advised to regularly update the content of safe transaction instructions on the bank's website.
