Việt NamViệt Nam07/07/2024

Vo Quang Phu Duc entered the third quarter competition as the contestant with the highest second place score in the monthly competition with 240 points. This was also a rematch between the Hue male student and his friend Dang Duy Khanh (student of Lao Cai Specialized High School, Lao Cai province) - the winner of the first quarter competition.

More than anyone, Phu Duc understands that there will be no chance for the second prize winner in the quarterly contest as there is in the monthly contest.

Phu Duc clearly demonstrated his determination and solid knowledge when he led the score throughout the quarter competition.

Right in the Warm-up round, Phu Duc won 105 points, taking the lead in the mountain climbing group, temporarily 60 points ahead of the player in second place.

In the Obstacle Race, although he did not gain any more points (player Dang Duy Khanh solved the Obstacle Race with the correct answer being the Gulf of Tonkin Event), Phu Duc continued to lead the mountain climbing team. At this time, the gap between Phu Duc and the second-place player Duy Khanh was only 10 points.

Right after this competition, Phu Duc shared his experience that what is needed at this time is a "cool head" and a very fast speed.

Winning the third quarter of the 24th Road to Olympia competition, Vo Quang Phu Duc (Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted, Thua Thien - Hue ) brought the final match of the year to Thua Thien - Hue.

In the Acceleration round, Phu Duc answered 3/4 questions correctly, thereby gaining 90 more points, bringing the total score to 195 and continuing to lead the climbing group. At this time, Phu Duc was 25 points ahead of the next player.

In the Finish Line round, Phu Duc chose 3 questions worth 20 points.

The drama of the contest increased when Phu Duc could not give the correct answers to these 3 questions. One of them was taken over by his friend Tuan Minh (Chu Van An High School, Hanoi ) with the correct answer. At the end of his turn, Phu Duc only had 175 points, while his friend Tuan Minh, after winning 20 more points from Phu Duc, temporarily rose to the top with 190 points.

However, in Tuan Minh's turn right after, Phu Duc regained 20 points and the leading position according to that scenario. At this point, Phu Duc and Tuan Minh were only 5 points apart and every question that followed could affect the final outcome of the competition.

However, in a question asked by Duy Khanh, contestant Tuan Minh took the right to answer but gave an incorrect answer, thereby being deducted 15 points. At this time, Phu Duc increased the gap with the contestants right behind him with 20 points.

In the last question of Duy Hung's turn, Phu Duc also had the right to answer but gave an incorrect answer, deducting 10 points. However, the final score of 185 was enough for Phu Duc to win the laurel wreath and bring the television broadcast of the final match of the Road to Olympia 2024 to Thua Thien - Hue.

With the result that Phu Duc achieved, this is the 7th televised final match of the Road to Olympia of the school on the banks of the Huong River. This is also the school with the most contestants in the finals of the year up to now, including 2 champions of the finals of the year (2009 and 2016).

Following Vo Quang Phu Duc (Le Hong Phong High School, Phu Yen), are Nguyen Tuan Minh (Chu Van An High School, Hanoi) with 175 points; Dang Duy Khanh (Lao Cai High School for the Gifted, Lao Cai) with 160 points and Phan Duy Hung (Son Tay High School, Hanoi) with 110 points.
