After making landfall near Tallahassee, the state capital of Florida, the storm moved north, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. According to the website poweroutage.us, more than 4.2 million customers were without power across 10 states, from Florida to Ohio.

Although it has weakened to a tropical depression, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) warns that the storm still causes severe flooding and the risk of flash flooding in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

In the affected areas, people are facing great hardship. Homes are flooded, trees are downed and many people have been forced to leave their homes to find safe shelter. US Vice President Kamala Harris said the government has mobilized 1,500 personnel to support affected communities.
