MU is likely to have Mbeumo this summer.

According to The Athletic , MU is close to ending a decade-long drought for a striker who scores 20 goals/season in the Premier League. The "Red Devils" have reached a personal agreement with Mbeumo and only need to meet the £65 million price tag that the "Beets" demand.

Negotiations between MU and Brentford are progressing. MU sent two offers, worth up to £55 million plus £7.5 million in additional fees, but were rejected. However, with Brentford wanting to collect £65 million, the deal is likely to be approved soon.

The key factor that helped MU complete the deal was Mbeumo's personal desire. The Cameroonian striker prioritized a move to Old Trafford, despite coach Thomas Frank wanting to bring him to Tottenham.

For MU, this is a strategic deal. After spending 62.5 million pounds on Matheus Cunha, having another proven striker in the Premier League like Mbeumo will be the solution to the problem of the attack.

Mbeumo's 20 goals last season were only bettered by Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland, a milestone no United player has reached since Robin van Persie helped Sir Alex Ferguson's side win the Premier League in 2012/13.

Should the deal go through, it would shatter Brentford's record transfer fee, surpassing the £40m they paid for Ivan Toney to join Al Ahli in the summer of 2024.

However, new manager Keith Andrews will face a massive talent drain. Captain Christian Norgaard is also on his way to Arsenal for £9.3m.
