On August 16, users of the OTT VieON application could no longer watch content when accessing the K+ channel group. The platform said that due to changes in cooperation policies, these programs would no longer be available from 0:00 on the same day. The announcement was made suddenly, surprising users.

It is currently unclear whether the platform will compensate customers who are purchasing K+ packages (VND 189,000/month) and All Access (VND 290,000/month).

A similar announcement was also made on ClipTV. Previously, the SCTV cable TV system also stopped broadcasting 3 K+ channels. In the opposite direction, K+ also stopped broadcasting SCTV channels. At the same time, from July, users ofFPT Play, VTVCab ON or MyTV platforms can only buy K+ packages according to the monthly renewal program, with no longer options. Previously, customers could buy 3-6 month or one-year packages to save costs.

In Vietnam, K+ is the copyright owner of the English Premier League and other sports such as Tennis, F1, UFC, Golf. This unit is the result of a joint venture between French television company Canal+ and VTVCab. After that, VTVCab's capital was transferred to VTV for management.

According to DecodeTV , Canal+ CEO Maxime Saada is considering withdrawing from the Vietnamese market because losses have "become significant" and "there is no feasible solution in sight". "We may decide to strongly restructure our operations here, or even consider withdrawing completely," Saada shared.

The statement from Canal+ along with the suspension of broadcasting by many platforms has sparked rumors that K+ may change its operating plan in Vietnam. At the same time, a series of long-time commentators of this unit announced their departure from the station.

However, on August 4, K+ denied the rumors of ceasing operations. They said they would still exclusively broadcast the Premier League in Vietnam.

"In the context of pay TV in Vietnam operating very fiercely and constantly changing, we always try to be sensitive in assessing the situation and have flexible adjustments to services to adapt and serve the audience. The new Premier League season 2025/2026 will return with sports and entertainment content broadcast on 5 K+ channels and the entire channel system in the subscription package," said the station.
