Open the door to the world of colors

(GLO)- From watercolor strokes, ink smears on Do paper, to soaring calligraphy lines or the vibrant colors of wax crayons and acrylics - all blend together in drawing classes. In the summer, those small classes quietly contribute to nurturing the artistic souls of many young people.

Classes that nurture emotions and sow the seeds of painting

The small house at 58 Can Vuong (Quy Nhon Nam ward) is where artist Nguyen Binh Tuy inspires painting, calligraphy and ink painting for many ages. Each class has about 10 - 15 students, some of whom study long-term with the aim of entering art schools.

Nguyen Minh Khoi, a student at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, shared: “I plan to take the exam to study fine arts in the future. Here, every class is an experience. I not only learn techniques but also learn how to perceive beauty from very ordinary things.”

Painter Binh Tuy said: “Fine art develops like a concentric drop of water, spreading from small to large. I not only teach skills but more importantly, I instill a love of painting. With ink painting and calligraphy, the core is to help students feel the “spirit” in each stroke.”

In addition to local students, many foreign tourists visiting Quy Nhon also come to Mr. Binh Tuy's class to have special trial lessons, as an experience of Vietnamese culture. "Some foreign guests only attend a few lessons, others stay longer. I remember most last year there was a Czech guest who studied for two weeks to draw a book cover for his own work. When he finished, he was very touched and respectfully brought it back to his country. That made me feel happy," artist Binh Tuy shared.

An Nhien Art Center (Tuy Phuoc Dong commune), led by teacher Le Thi Mai Truc, has chosen its own path - teaching drawing using the Danish method, including combining music to guide creative activities... helping children approach painting naturally, comfortably, without being constrained by stereotypes.

The class is divided into three age groups by Ms. Mai Truc, from 6 to 15 years old, maintaining about 12 - 15 students per session. Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Truc, a student in class 4C, Phuoc Hoa Primary School No. 2, happily said: "I like studying here because I can draw as I like and play with many friends. The teacher is very funny, each class is like a small picnic."

Ms. Mai Truc shared: “Drawing is not just about creating a beautiful picture according to certain standards, but also a journey of self -discovery . For the group of 12-15 years old, I combine teaching with the Danish method on weekends, so that music stimulates the children’s imagination and emotions to create art.”

Drawing from life

Drawing classes vary in style from place to place, but they all have in common the focus on emotions and experiences, creating a highly communal learning environment.

In Binh Dinh ward, Thao Thao Young Artist Club, founded and headed by teacher Le Thi Thao, takes students out of the familiar classroom space. Some lessons are organized in the form of real-life drawing at historical sites, scenic spots, and natural landscapes of the homeland.

“We want the children to understand that art is always present around us. Through each field trip, the children not only learn to draw but also learn to observe, love nature, history and culture of their homeland,” said Ms. Thao.

Painting is not only a skill, but also an emotional journey, self-discovery and connection with the world around. Do Pham Khanh Thi (5D student, Binh Dinh Primary School No. 2) excitedly said: “What I like most is going on tours to learn more interesting things. There, I can experience and draw based on what I see and feel around me.”

The art teachers also patiently accompany their students. Teacher Mai Truc's class has a child with intellectual disabilities, who was initially very shy and had difficulty concentrating. But through perseverance and closeness through each play, drawing, and conversation, she gradually helped the child open up and become more confident. "To me, each painting this child draws is extremely valuable, it is the result of a journey to overcome himself," Ms. Truc said emotionally.

Drawing lessons have helped nurture the soul and lead to beautiful life experiences for the children. “When drawing, children do not need to be too bound by techniques, but should be inspired by emotions, so that they can love what is familiar around them. At a young age, it is necessary to create joy for children when holding a brush, coloring and drawing according to what they like, as if telling their own story,” teacher Thao shared.
