Western Nghe An has another landslide due to heavy rain, volunteer vehicle needs rescue

For more than 2 days now, heavy rains have been continuously occurring in many mountainous communes of Nghe An, causing difficulties for local residents and support forces. Several roads have been repeatedly damaged by landslides and traffic jams, restricting traffic.

On the morning of August 17, Nhon Mai commune authorities said that for the past two days, the commune has been experiencing frequent rain, including heavy rain at times. Early in the morning of August 17, landslides occurred again on National Highway 16 through Xoi Voi village, causing traffic jams and making it impossible for vehicles to pass.

In addition, some intra-commune roads and roads connecting villages and hamlets have also appeared to have split points, for example, the road to Huoi To 1 village has now experienced landslides, with rocks and soil flowing down the mountainside and burying the road surface.

In My Ly commune, heavy rain has also occurred since last night, especially this morning, causing landslides to recur on many roads that were being repaired after previous floods and landslides, blocking traffic.

Mr. Ho Minh Nam, a volunteer group member from Quynh Luu commune, said on the morning of August 17 that his volunteer group is currently in Xieng Tam village, My Ly commune, and due to heavy rain and slippery roads, the group's car got stuck and bogged down, so they had to call for traffic rescue support.

Mr. Luong Xuan Bay - Chairman of My Ly Commune People's Committee also affirmed that the continuous heavy rains have caused the risk of landslides and mountain landslides in My Ly. Therefore, the authorities are focusing on advising and reminding people to limit their movement, especially on muddy roads with potential for landslides. Currently, in My Ly Commune, many individuals and organizations have come to support and assist people in overcoming the consequences. Local forces are making every effort to provide maximum support, ensuring safety for the groups operating and sharing with the people.

In Muong Tip commune, since the night of August 16, there has been rain, landslides have occurred on road 543D, so the authorities and forces regularly monitor, warn, and provide timely guidance to ensure safety for people as well as working groups and volunteer groups.

In particular, it is recommended that people limit their travel during prolonged rainy weather. Individuals and organizations coming to Muong Tip area should contact local officials for detailed instructions and support for safe traffic./.
