On the afternoon of August 29, within the framework of the 2025 "Essence of the Great Forest - Convergence of the Blue Sea" Festival taking place from August 29 to September 2 at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square (Quy Nhon Ward, Gia Lai), local people and tourists were captivated by the performance of processing ocean tuna weighing more than half a quintal.

This is one of the highlights and also the kick-off event of the festival. The program aims to introduce the art of tuna cuisine and serve 5,000 free tastings to visitors, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. from August 29 to September 1.

The old Binh Dinh province (now Gia Lai province) is known as the capital of Vietnamese ocean tuna. Here, tuna processing is both a cultural feature and close to the lives of the people.

But to process a tuna weighing more than half a quintal into culinary masterpieces requires the talented hands of chefs.

Through the hands of talented chefs from Ho Chi Minh City, Australia, Thailand, Japan and the Gia Lai Province Culinary Culture Association, tuna is filleted and processed into nutritious, delicious and equally beautiful dishes.

Children attentively and curiously watch the giant tuna being butchered at Quy Nhon Children's Park.

Along with the program introducing the art of ocean tuna cuisine is the culinary festival “Delicious dishes from the Basalt Land and the Sea”. This place displays OCOP products, craft villages and the Gia Lai province coffee culture festival. The event gathers nearly 94 booths and 33 units, with the participation of restaurants inside and outside the province.

The 2025 "Essence of the Great Forest - Convergence of the Blue Sea" Festival organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province will take place from August 29 to September 2, 2025 at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square (Quy Nhon ward) with the theme "Aspiration for the Blue Sea - Shining Great Forest", celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day September 2 and the event of the unification of Binh Dinh province (old) and Gia Lai province (old) on July 1, 2025.

In the series of events, the opening art program with the message "Promoting the strength of solidarity - maintaining identity - moving forward to the future" will be staged combining the characteristics of the two East - West regions of Gia Lai province with the content of historical traditions, cultural identity, potential strengths for economic development, historical relics, tourist landscapes, products of the basalt land and sea.

The highlight of the opening program is the brilliant low-altitude fireworks display in the sky of Quy Nhon coastal city; the light festival and drone art performance and the appearance of famous art troupes and artists participating promise to bring a vibrant visual feast for young people with the theme "Great Forest - Blue Sea Reaching Out to Shine".
