According to information from Quang Tri Power Company (PC Quang Tri), June is usually the peak of the hot season, this year in particular has recorded many days of record high temperatures, even with prolonged heat waves. This is the reason why the demand for cooling devices in households and agencies has increased sharply, causing electricity consumption to skyrocket, thereby leading to higher electricity bills compared to previous months.
June is also the time when students enter summer vacation. Children staying home from school means that air conditioners, televisions, computers, fans, and electronic devices are constantly running, and many parents are working so they cannot control them.
In addition, from May 10, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade adjusted the average retail electricity price to increase by 4.8%, corresponding to the new price of VND 2,204.0655/kWh (excluding value added tax). Although the increase is not large, when combined with the increase in electricity consumption, people feel that their bills have increased more than in reality.
Deputy Director of PC Quang Tri Tran Quang Dong said that in case households have questions about the unusually high electricity bill in June, they can contact the unit or the Customer Care Center of the Central Power Corporation, via phone number 19001909 to review meter data, index recording schedule and related factors, ensuring the accuracy of the bill.
To save electricity during the hot season, the authorities also recommend that people limit the use of multiple electrical devices at the same time during peak hours; increase shielding and insulation, use air conditioning properly (adjust temperature from 26°C or higher); use energy-saving devices with energy labels and origin; monitor daily electricity indexes on EVN applications, electricity indexes will be updated 4 times/day...
