These days, in addition to actively harvesting fresh lychees, lychee drying kilns in Luc Ngan district have also increased their operating capacity. Accordingly, with more than 10.3 thousand hectares of lychees, the total output of the district is expected to reach about 60.5 thousand tons. This year, Luc Ngan district has determined that the main form of consumption is selling fresh fruit (accounting for about 80%), the rest is processed on-site and sold to domestic processing facilities for drying, canning, juicing, making dried apricots, etc. Through deep processing, the value of lychees is significantly increased, lychee growers have better income and can reduce seasonal pressures.

Currently, the whole district has more than 1 thousand kilns to dry various types of fabric, meeting the processing demand of more than 6 thousand tons. The number of kilns is concentrated in the communes: Tan Lap, Phu Nhuan, Tan Quang, Deo Gia, Giap Son, Bien Dong town... Some families and cooperatives have boldly invested in high-tech cold dryers and steam dryers to help increase the quality and value of products such as: Phi Dien Agricultural Service Cooperative; Luc Ngan Xanh Cooperative; Bang Thuy Agricultural Cooperative...
Tan Lap commune has 3 lychee drying kilns, and since mid-June, the kilns have been red hot. Since the beginning of the season, Mr. Hoang Van Coong's family in Trai Thap village has dried nearly 20 tons. To have raw materials, in addition to the lychees that people bring to the kiln to sell, his family also uses a car to buy from neighboring areas. With many years of experience in drying lychees, Mr. Coong shared: "Quality dried lychees must have a light fragrance, fragrant and soft lychee fibers, sweet and sharp, not sticky to the touch, and a sweet and refreshing taste. This year, the source of raw lychees is quite abundant and of good quality, so I plan to dry about 200 tons of fresh lychees. On average, each batch can dry 6 tons, and every 4 days a batch will be produced. If the output market shows signs of improvement, the family will hire more workers to increase lychee drying."
According to Mr. Phan Van Net, Director of the Phi Dien Agricultural Production, Trade and Service Cooperative in Phi residential group, Phi Dien town, since the beginning of the season, the Cooperative has focused on drying more than 10 tons of fresh lychee using electric oven drying technology. It is expected that the whole season will dry about 300 tons of fresh lychee, producing more than 80 tons of dried lychee. At this time, the Cooperative has received a number of orders for dried lychee from export sources to Europe and America. The products are packaged according to standards, have traceability, are convenient, luxurious, convenient for transportation and can be used as gifts.
In addition to serving domestic consumption, in recent years, Luc Ngan dried lychees have also been exported to a number of markets such as China, Korea, Australia, Japan, Europe, etc. through agricultural export companies. This is a product line with a long shelf life, low transportation risks and is increasingly popular in high-end markets. Many dried lychee production facilities have met international quality standards, invested in labels and packaging with QR codes for traceability, and have been recognized as OCOP products, helping the product reach supermarket systems, agents and online sales channels both domestically and internationally.
In Luc Ngan district, there are currently more than 1,000 kilns drying various types of fabric, meeting the processing demand of more than 6,000 tons. The number of kilns is concentrated in the communes of Tan Lap, Phu Nhuan, Tan Quang, Deo Gia, Giap Son, Bien Dong town, etc. |
Along with operating drying kilns, many businesses in the province are increasing the purchase of lychees in Luc Ngan district, recruiting workers to organize the processing of fresh lychee products. Specifically, Toan Cau Food Import-Export Joint Stock Company (Chu town) has planned to process about 5 thousand tons of products such as: canned lychees, frozen lychees, juices, etc.
According to the representative of the Company's leadership, the source of raw materials for processing lychees on the spot is quite abundant, the quality is guaranteed, the enterprise does not have to collect at many places but people bring them to weigh every day. The enterprise has proactively signed orders in advance, the investment in machinery and equipment has been increased, so the processing and consumption of lychee products is quite favorable. During this time, the lychee processing lines are all operating at full capacity, the Company has to continuously announce recruitment of workers to keep up with the delivery schedule.
According to the representative of the Economic , Infrastructure and Urban Department of Luc Ngan district, not only stopping at consuming fresh lychee, due to the large output this year, the locality has oriented and encouraged people and businesses to increase processing activities of products such as drying, juice, tea, drinks, cakes, cold storage... to help extend consumption time and reduce consumption pressure. Some businesses such as: GOC Export Food Processing Joint Stock Company (Lang Giang), Vifoco Import Export Joint Stock Company (Bac Giang city) and other factories specializing in producing fruit juices in and outside the province are also promoting lychee purchasing activities in the district.
In addition, many weighing stations and traders also bring trucks to villages and hamlets to purchase lychees to supply to processing factories and lychee drying kilns in the provinces and cities of Thanh Hoa, Hanoi, Ha Nam, Hung Yen, etc. In particular, lychees continue to be processed into many different products by cooperatives and participating enterprises, contributing to the enrichment of local agricultural products, while promoting the development of tourism gift products. In Luc Ngan district, there are currently product lines processed from lychees such as: Yogurt, wine, tea, cakes, detergents, vinegar, etc. Thereby helping to diversify products, increase value and income for lychee growers.
