On the evening of July 4, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the exam scores and benchmark scores of 115 non-specialized public high schools. This year, more than 90 schools had lower average scores compared to last year. The difference between the school with the highest benchmark score and the school with the lowest was 15.5 points.

Many schools have a sharp decrease in their benchmark scores compared to 2023 and 2024. For example, Tho Xuan High School (Dan Phuong) has a decrease of nearly 8.5 points. Last year, this school had a benchmark score of 30.75, meaning an average of 6.15 points/subject would be accepted. This year, the school has a benchmark score of 10, meaning an average of 3.33 points/subject would be accepted.

Another school that is also in the group of schools that have dropped sharply is Phuc Loi High School, located in the old Long Bien district, now Phuc Loi ward. Two years ago, candidates had to achieve an average of 7.55 points/subject to be able to pass this school, which is considered a school with high standard scores in the area.

However, this year, candidates registering for their first choice at Phuc Loi High School only need to score 14.5 points to pass, equivalent to 4.83 points/subject.

It is known that this year the school was granted 765 quotas, but the number of applications for the first choice was lower than the quota. Therefore, the school's benchmark score this year dropped to the bottom of the city, although in previous years it was in the top 30 schools with the highest benchmark scores in Hanoi.

Some other schools also have an average reduction of 1-2 points/subject compared to last year, such as Thach Ban High School, Duong Xa High School, Tu Lap High School, Thuong Cat High School, etc.

The whole city has about 20 schools with average subject scores increasing compared to last year, but only slightly increasing by 0.3 - 1.2 points. Doan Ket - Hai Ba Trung High School alone increased by about 6.5 points.

Last year, due to the number of applications for the first choice being lower than the enrollment target, the school’s benchmark score dropped by 16.25 points. The school scored 23.75 on a scale of 50, meaning an average of 4.75 points per subject passed. This score was “shocking” at the time because it was the only inner-city school in the top of schools with low benchmark scores.

This year, the school takes 20.75 points, or an average of 6.92 points/subject to pass.

Below are the changes in benchmark scores of some schools this year compared to 2023 and 2024:
