A series of high-scoring candidates failed 100% of their university applications in an inexplicable way.

(Dan Tri) - In one afternoon, Dan Tri Newspaper received nearly 30 candidates reporting that despite achieving high scores and meeting the standard score, they failed all of their registered wishes.

100% failed applications for unknown reasons

These candidates all have in common that they applied to Ho Chi Minh City University of Education but due to some error they were not admitted to the school and could not continue with their next wishes.

Le Thu Tra ( Ha Tinh ) had a high school graduation exam score of 24.75 in the A00 group. Tra placed her first choice in Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, with a standard score of 25.94. Thus, Tra failed her first choice. The lookup system of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education also displayed the result "Not admitted".

The female student's score could have been accepted into the lower choices at Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics . However, the school reported that the candidate was not admitted because she had already been accepted into the first choice.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education and Training 's system announced that candidates failed all their wishes.

Tra complained to Ho Chi Minh City University of Education but was unsuccessful in contacting her. The female student did not know how to get the school to “release” the failed result to the lower choice to accept her.

On the afternoon of August 25 alone, Dan Tri newspaper received information from nearly 30 candidates with similar circumstances to Le Thu Tra.

Kim Ngan's high school graduation exam results for block A00 were 25 points, and block C01 were 25.75 points. The female student registered for two majors at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education: Mathematics Pedagogy and Primary Pedagogy, but failed both.

In her third choice at Saigon University, the female student registered for Primary Education and had extra points. The standard score for block C01 of this school is 25.12. However, Saigon University's system reported that Kim Ngan was not admitted because she had already been admitted to her first choice at Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical University.

All 8 choices below Kim Ngan had 1 to 3 extra points, but the Ministry of Education and Training's admission system reported that she failed 100% of the schools.

Contacting the school, Kim Ngan was told that the system was faulty, leading to fake admissions. However, the school has not yet come up with a solution.

“Many schools have started enrolling students. The Ministry of Education and Training requires students to enroll before 5 p.m. on August 30. If they do not enroll after August 30, they will be considered as having failed. I am extremely worried and do not know where to turn,” Kim Ngan said, choking up.

Anh Thu (Binh Dinh) also applied to Ho Chi Minh City University of Education according to the specialized capacity assessment method organized by the school, achieving 22.8 points in the C14 combination, not including priority points.

The benchmark score Anh Thu registered for was 21.17. However, the search system of Anh Thu Journalism School did not accept her.

Like Le Thu Tra and Kim Ngan, although the Pedagogical University reported that she had failed, the lower schools received information that Anh Thu had passed, so the results returned were that she had failed. The Ministry of Education and Training's admission system reported that Anh Thu failed 100% of her choices.

Similarly, Kim Thien's name was not on the list of candidates admitted to Can Tho University even though she had enough points to pass the exam because her previous wish was announced to be accepted to Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Long An branch.

Results from pass to fail

Mai Trang scored 24 points in the A00 high school graduation exam and 23.68 points according to the specialized capacity assessment method of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. The standard score for the primary education major at the Gia Lai branch that Mai Trang registered for was 23.67.

On August 22, this candidate checked the school system and was reported as having passed. However, on August 24, the system returned a failed result.

Even with this admission score, Mai Trang still passed her 5th and 6th wishes, but the system did not record the results.

Similarly, Pham Van (Gia Lai) had a score of 24.25 for the C00 group, registering her first choice at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. The standard score for the major Van registered for was 24.1. A friend of Vy's scored 24.1 and was declared passed, but Van was declared failed.

Van registered for a total of 14 choices. She had enough points to pass the admission test for choices 8 and 14, but all the schools said that Van had passed her first choice to Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, so she was not eligible to be admitted to her lower choice.

Khoi Nguyen is a retired soldier. Nguyen took the graduation exam in three subjects: math, physics, and chemistry and scored 22.55 points. Because he was a priority candidate, Nguyen received extra points and his admission score was raised to 24.54 points.

Nguyen applied for Primary Education, the standard score for this major is 24.15 points. However, the system reported that Nguyen did not pass. Nguyen's situation is similar to many other candidates, the Ministry of Education and Training's system reported that all of his wishes were rejected.

Thuy Tien (Quang Binh) scored 26.5 points in block C00, registered for Psychology but lacked points. She had extra points to enter Hue University of Education. However, Hue University of Education did not consider Thuy Tien's application because the system reported that she passed her application.

These are 8 out of nearly 30 cases that contacted Dan Tri newspaper for help because they had enough points to get into many choices but were at risk of failing all schools due to errors in the virtual filtering system and the admission system.

With only 3-5 days left, if candidates do not receive accurate results to confirm admission to lower choices, the university door will close to them in the 2025 school year.

“The child cried, the mother cried, the brothers and sisters eagerly went to the schools to ask for a solution, but the schools all said they could not help her. They had to wait for an official dispatch from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and opinions from the Ministry of Education and Training. Please save us!”, Thuy Tien said, bursting into tears.

According to an admissions expert at a public university in Ho Chi Minh City, this year, errors in processing applications occurred at many schools. In particular, the expert's unit also received a letter from another school requesting to accept candidates due to errors in the virtual filtering process.

Explaining the error of high scores but 100% of the applications were rejected, this person said it could be due to the virtual filtering process, the school changed the admission score at the last minute but did not update the admission list in time, so the system could not "release" the candidate for another school to continue considering.

It is also possible that the school made a mistake in some step, leading to inaccurate benchmark scores and admission lists.
