In 2025, according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , universities are not allowed to divide quotas according to each admission method, and must convert the admission scores of all methods to the equivalent and consider from high to low until the quota of each major/training program is exhausted.
The head of the admissions department of a university said that the above regulation was once understood to mean that all schools had to convert admission scores to a single scale for the entire school or for each major. In fact, the Ministry only required equivalent conversion of admission scores.
For example, if major A has a standard score of 25 according to the high school graduation exam method, this score is equivalent to 75 points according to the thinking assessment method, equivalent to 28 points according to the transcript review method. This equivalence must be explained and proven by the schools with a formula.
When announcing the benchmark scores, schools are still allowed to announce scores according to each admission method.
Some large schools such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology and National Economics University have a formula for converting admission scores. Therefore, the benchmark scores of these schools may use a common scale.

The final virtual screening session is scheduled to end at 12:30 pm today (August 22). After this time, all schools will have to announce their benchmark scores. The deadline for announcing the first benchmark scores is before 5:00 pm.
Previously, according to the plan, schools were to announce their scores from 5:00 p.m. on August 20. However, the Ministry decided to postpone the schedule by 2 days to conduct 4 more virtual filtering sessions.
In 2025, the Ministry will completely eliminate early admission, leading to all admission methods being combined into a common virtual selection round.
The Ministry allows candidates to register unlimited wishes, leading to a situation where each candidate registers an average of 9 wishes. The system records many candidates registering over 100 wishes, a record of 231 wishes in many majors and schools from North to South. The total number of wishes exceeds 7.6 million.
In addition, due to the regulation of converting equivalent scores for admission methods, each school has its own conversion formula, each candidate has many different starting scores at different schools from the same original admission score.
In particular, this year is the year with a record number of admission combinations with 344 combinations. The Ministry allows candidates not to register for admission combinations or admission methods, but only need to enter the starting points into the system. The Ministry's system will automatically match the combination for candidates, giving priority to the combination/admission method with the highest score.
All of the above factors lead to the virtual filtering system having to process a huge amount of data, beyond expectations.
