Le Thuy: Dismantling the Da Lam reservoir dike to drain water

(QBĐT) - On the morning of June 13, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Thuy Commune (Le Thuy) Le Thuan Van said that the authorities had just demolished the dyke of Da Lam reservoir to drain water due to heavy rain.

It is known that Da Lam reservoir was invested in construction in 1987, with a capacity of about ^500,000m3 . The lake has the task of providing stable irrigation water for dozens of hectares of double-crop rice and providing domestic water for households in the area.

Due to the impact of storm No. 1, in the past few days, Thai Thuy commune has had heavy rain, causing the water level of Da Lam lake to rise. Thai Thuy commune authorities have arranged forces to be on duty 24/7 to protect and reinforce the dike. However, due to the large amount of water flowing in, the construction unit had to dismantle the dike of Da Lam lake.

Currently, the Le Thuy district government is directing communes to urgently notify people in the downstream areas of Da Lam reservoir, including Thai Thuy, Tan Thuy, and Duong Thuy, who are likely to be affected so that they can proactively prevent the impact.
