Le Kien Thanh won the gold medal at the 2025 International Olympiad in Informatics

Le Kien Thanh, a student at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Gia Lai), has just brought glory to Vietnam by winning a gold medal at the 2025 International Olympiad in Informatics.

On the morning of August 2, the official results of the 2025 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) were announced on the Organizing Committee's website. The Vietnamese team achieved high results with 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. Among them, Le Kien Thanh was the one who contributed greatly with the prestigious gold medal.

IOI is the most prestigious algorithmic programming competition for high school students worldwide . This year, IOI 2025 took place from July 27 to August 3 in Bolivia, with the participation of more than 90 countries and territories. Candidates competed over two official competition days, each lasting 5 hours. Each exam consisted of many highly difficult problems, requiring deep algorithmic thinking and excellent programming skills.

The Vietnamese team had 4 members participating. Of which, Le Kien Thanh (Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Gia Lai) was the only member of the Vietnamese team to win a gold medal. Two silver medals went to Dang Huy Hau (Thang Long High School for the Gifted, Lam Dong) and Nguyen Bui Duc Dung (High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences , Hanoi National University). Ninh Quang Thang (Ha Long High School for the Gifted, Quang Ninh) won a bronze medal.

Mr. Huynh Le Minh, Principal of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted ( Gia Lai ), confirmed the above information and said: "We are very proud of Le Kien Thanh. The school will organize a ceremony to honor and reward him when he returns home."

Previously, Le Kien Thanh also made his mark with a silver medal at the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) 2025 hosted by Uzbekistan on May 17-18.

Le Kien Thanh is a familiar name among IT students. Since he was in 10th grade, Thanh won first prize in the provincial IT competition (for 12th graders) and won second prize in the national IT competition in 2023. In the same year, he was also crowned champion at the Le Quy Don Online Judge Cup 2023 in Da Nang City and won first prize in group C1 at the National Youth IT Competition.

With a series of impressive achievements, Le Kien Thanh has been awarded certificates of merit many times by the Minister of Education and Training and the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province (now merged with Gia Lai province). The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union also awarded him the Creative Youth Badge.

Recently, Le Kien Thanh was one of five outstanding delegates from Binh Dinh province (old) selected to attend the 8th National Congress of Advanced Youth Following Uncle Ho's Teachings.
