On the morning of March 21, the People's Committee of Da Nang city had a working session with the delegation of the Ministry of Information and Communications led by Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long.

Mr. Le Quang Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, said that Da Nang's digital transformation is associated with the implementation of policies, goals and tasks identified in Resolution 43/NQ-TW of the Politburo on building and developing the City until 2030 and orientation to 2045, which is to promote digital economic development. The goal by 2030 is to basically complete the construction of a smart city, synchronously connecting with the smart city network in the country and the ASEAN region.

Up to now, Da Nang has achieved some initial results such as: 3 years being ranked first in the provincial digital transformation index; 4 times receiving the Vietnam Smart City award... and many other international awards.

In 2024, Da Nang has 47 key targets for digital transformation. Specific targets include: the rate of public administrative services eligible for full implementation reaches 100%; the rate of online public administrative records reaches 95%; each adult has a digital account and a personal digital data warehouse on the system, reaching 70%; the rate of households with digital addresses reaches 80%; the rate of cashless payment markets reaches 100%; the rate of people with digital signatures reaches 40%....

At the meeting, the City proposed that the Ministry of Information and Communications implement solutions to promote the issuance of digital signatures to people; Review, advise on updating and perfecting the national economic classification system; Da Nang hopes that the Telecommunications Department will soon provide instructions for deploying fiber optic cable stations. At the same time, it proposed that the Ministry of Information and Communications help Da Nang calculate the proportion of the local digital economy, then replicate it for other localities to apply...

Mr. Le Quang Nam, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, expressed his hope that the Ministry of Information and Communications would assist the city in digital transformation and affirmed that if selected by the Ministry of Information and Communications as a pilot, Da Nang would commit to being determined, making every effort, and coordinating with units of the Ministry of Information and Communications to thoroughly and practically implement the project.

After listening to the report and recommendations from Da Nang, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Duc Long said that he was very impressed with the results Da Nang had achieved, as the city is a pioneer in digital transformation. The Ministry of Information and Communications will accompany the city, to the end, to carry out all indicators on digital transformation. In particular, focusing on public services and data centers.

Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long said that Da Nang has the opportunity to attract investors and has the conditions to build a complete ecosystem. However, Da Nang must come up with a general plan and general orientation.

In the field of microchip design, Da Nang should focus on design and packaging, because currently the chip manufacturing industry is difficult to compete, when many countries are promoting incentives and attracting businesses...

According to Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long, the Ministry will work together to resolve the problems and difficulties that Da Nang has not been able to solve. Regarding the digital economy, Da Nang needs to do more research because this is a new field. With public services and data centers, we must be determined to do it thoroughly.

The Deputy Minister also expressed his wish that Da Nang would share its experiences and methods of digital transformation to guide other localities.

“If Da Nang can do it, other localities must do it too. There is no reason why one province can do it and another cannot. Hopefully, in the future, Da Nang, with its implementation experience, will contribute ideas to develop the country’s digital transformation, bringing practical results to the digital transformation cause,” said Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long.
