Committed to truth and justice
In the era of “information chaos” due to the development of many social media platforms, journalists must commit more strongly to maintain the “flame of truth”. That commitment is not only geographical, but also steadfast in professional ethics, ready to face pressure, even risks to protect the core values of true journalism: Honesty, objectivity, fairness and humanity.

There were dangerous work trips, such as when the reporter worked in the flood-prone area of Ba Be Lake, from Pac Ngoi village to the border of Quang Khe commune during storm No. 3 Yagi in late 2024. When the floodwaters rose, many houses were submerged, leaving only the roofs. The reporter had to accompany a local resident on a small corrugated iron boat with wooden oars, drifting in the middle of the river. The boat swayed violently, at times it seemed like it was about to capsize. Even so, I still had to hold the camera firmly in my hand to capture precious moments, while maintaining balance so as not to fall into the water. In the end, we were able to capture images of people in dire straits, lacking necessities... to convey to readers near and far.

There were investigative articles after receiving information from Duc Van commune residents about Cao Bac Private Enterprise illegally dumping, smelting and recycling lead ore, and burning copper wire, causing environmental pollution. We went to the site to investigate, but were obstructed by two security guards, using vulgar language, and even threatening. They said: "Journalists must write about typical examples, not harass businesses that are producing to benefit the locality."
In the face of such a tense situation, we took professional measures to record remotely and collect information from workers after work. Despite the potential danger, we still completed the article with full data, published it, and then the authorities intervened to handle it.

It can be said that journalism is a profession that is under a lot of pressure in a context where information must always be new, current, close to reality and, most importantly, truthful. The spirit of dedication of journalists today is always the flame that lights up the career journey, with the responsibility of protecting the Party's ideological foundation, protecting the socialist regime, serving the community and the People.
Many articles were made from readers' reflections on problems related to land, environment, etc. that were reflected by Bac Kan Newspaper, after which the authorities intervened to resolve them. These include: "Buying land from the company and the promise that has not been fulfilled for many years", "People petition to promptly resolve the situation of rocks and soil flooding into people's houses", "The petition of 59 households in Dong Luong is being considered comprehensively and thoroughly", "A household said that they were made difficult in issuing land use right certificates"... After the resolution, people felt excited. Those results were contributed by the people working for Bac Kan Newspaper.
The spirit of commitment in the new era
In the new era - the era of national development - we, journalists, are more aware of our responsibility to innovate with the country, improve our professional qualifications and journalistic skills, and be ready to be present where the people need us, at the front lines of natural disaster hotspots, epidemics, wars, or remote areas. Journalists today are likened to "soldiers without guns", always facing pressure and danger to promptly reflect the truth, bringing an honest and objective voice to readers.
Today, journalists not only work with a pen and a recorder, but also have to master technology, digital transformation, live stream on the spot, and create multi-platform content. Although tools may change, the spirit of dedication remains the root. It is the sensitivity to current events, daring to innovate thinking, mastering the digital space, but always maintaining professional ethics and integrity.
The new-age journalist not only engages in the field, but also engages in cyberspace – where the boundary between right and wrong, truth and falsehood is increasingly fragile. In the face of conflicting information, engagement is demonstrated in the courage to fight against wrong, protect right, guide public opinion, and strengthen trust in society.
We understand that: The spirit of dedication is the “soul” of journalists – from the battlefield journalists of previous generations to today’s young reporters. There have been many journalistic works that live forever. That is the reason why each work does not stop at reporting news, but also arouses emotions, promotes action, and contributes to the progress of society. In the constant flow of current events, I believe that, with their dedication, journalists will always stand side by side with the People, continue to produce truthful articles, contribute to protecting justice, and spread good things to readers./.
