The 2025 National Excellent Student Exam is scheduled to take place on December 25-26.

The national excellent student selection exam organized by the Ministry of Education and Training aims to promote the improvement and enhancement of teaching and learning quality; at the same time, discover students with aptitude for subjects to create a source of training, realizing the goal of training talents for the country.

Hanoi candidates participate in the national excellent student exam for the 2023-2024 school year.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the exam is scheduled to take place on December 25-26, 202. On December 25, there will be written exams in the following subjects: math, physics, chemistry, biology, literature, history, geography, English, Russian, French, Chinese, Japanese and computer programming for information technology.

On December 26, there will be written exams in the subjects of math, physics, chemistry, and biology; oral exams in English, Russian, French, Chinese, and Japanese; and computer programming exams in information technology.

In the 2023-2024 school year, the total number of candidates registered to take the national excellent student exam is 5,812 from 70 units. Literature and English subjects have the most candidates, with about 640 candidates. The majority of candidates are students in grades 11 and 12; there are 43 students in grade 10. The number of candidates winning prizes is 3,359 (accounting for 55.79%).

Hanoi is the leading locality in the country in terms of the number of candidates taking the exam and winning prizes in this exam. In the 2023-2024 school year, Hanoi has 234 students taking the exam; the number of candidates winning prizes is 184 (accounting for over 78.6%), 43 more than last year.
