At around 3:30 p.m. on August 17, a kiosk in the meat trading area at the back gate of Vinh wholesale market suddenly caught fire. Upon discovering the incident, the market management board and traders immediately mobilized people to put out the fire and move assets out of the dangerous area, and contacted the authorities for support.

By 4 p.m., the fire was completely extinguished. Thanks to heavy rain, the spread of the fire was limited, significantly minimizing damage. The incident did not affect people's lives and did not cause much damage to property in the market.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Thai Ba Nghia - representative of Vinh Wholesale Market Management Board said: "Fortunately, thanks to the initiative and high vigilance of traders and functional forces, the fire was controlled in time, not spreading to neighboring kiosks."
According to Mr. Nghia, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but it could have been caused by an electrical short circuit due to the heavy rain all day. In addition, the habit of some vendors using straw to cook and grill food at the market also poses a high risk of causing the fire to spread faster.

It is known that after the incident, the Vinh wholesale market management board said that they will conduct a review of the entire row of old kiosks, especially at the back gate, where animal meat is often traded and a lot of straw is used, and at the same time tighten fire prevention and fighting measures. Propaganda and reminders to traders to strictly comply with regulations on electrical safety and absolutely not use flammable substances for cooking in the market will also be strengthened.
