Hanoi's Da Phuc High School said no students will be punished for filming and posting a video of a teacher grabbing and dragging a female student a week ago.

"The school is still working with the police to verify, there is no conclusion yet. Students are studying normally, no student has been punished for filming and posting videos," Ms. Nguyen Thi Phong Lan, Vice Principal of Da Phuc High School, Soc Son District, said at noon on October 4.

Previously, social media spread information that Da Phuc School would punish a student who filmed and posted a video of the homeroom teacher of class 12D4, who teaches CivicEducation at the school, grabbing the collar and dragging a female student who was lying in front of the classroom door.

In this video, the female student is crying and unable to stand up, while the teacher says, "Please don't embarrass others because of you." There are many students around who witnessed this.

According to the teacher's report, the female student (class secretary of class 12D4) was assigned to order a birthday cake for the class, but "ordered a cake different from what was agreed upon with her". On the morning of September 29, after discussing, the teacher told the female student to stand at the classroom door and take care of the cake she ordered herself.

"After the class had finished setting up tables and chairs and setting out the food, the female student saw the teacher coming out and knelt down in front of the classroom door. The teacher told her to stand up, but the student refused. Due to poor health, she lay down at the classroom door," the report said.

Da Phuc High School assessed that the teacher's action of pulling the student was not up to standard. The female teacher also admitted that she had acted hastily, causing misunderstandings. Principal Nguyen Duy Hien "hoped that students and their families sympathized" about this.

On October 2, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training requested the school to suspend work, remove the homeroom teacher and Civic Education teacher of class 12D4, and stop providing school counseling services with the teacher in the video, pending the investigation agency's verification and official conclusion on the incident.
