Never give up

Having felt pressured when witnessing others succeed early, Thanh Nhan gradually realized that no one is born knowing for sure which path to take. Therefore, just try your best.

Phan Thi Thanh Nhan (23 years old) is currently an office worker and a traditional martial arts athlete at the National Defense Sports Center II (HCMC). Starting to practice martial arts in grade 9 for the purpose of improving her health, Nhan maintained her passion until university and joined the school's martial arts club. Here, she competed in many amateur and city-level tournaments.

Thanh Nhan won a silver medal in the Thanh Long Doc Kiem event (women's competition, age group 17-40) at the 2025 National Traditional Martial Arts Club Championship.

In 2023, when the National Defense Sports Center II recruited students, Nhan registered and was accepted. Nhan said that the military environment helped her mature, practice discipline, responsibility and initiative. When she moved to the civilian environment, especially in studying and working, those skills helped her adapt and work more effectively.

Despite the high frequency of training and competition of the team, she always received favorable conditions from the school and the coaching staff to study. Thanks to that, Nhan maintained good results in both roles. Moreover, she is also studying for a Master of Business Administration program.

Thanh Nhan is confident and persistent in moving forward to live fully on her own journey.

The high intensity of work sometimes makes her feel pressured and tired. "I once finished 3 essays until 6am, then left for the tournament in Thai Nguyen at 10am. I wanted to finish everything before going to the competition stage" - Nhan shared.

However, Nhan has learned how to balance and manage her time better, not letting herself fall into a state of exhaustion and disorientation. Her family not only accompanies her but is also a great source of motivation to help her stay steadfast on every journey. Messages from relatives have become Nhan's guiding principle: "Be brave in every decision. Even if you go slower than others, as long as you don't give up, you will definitely reach the finish line."

Nhan wants to develop her career in the field of sports economics such as selling specialized products, organizing sports activities or events. For her, it is a way to promote her professional knowledge while applying the experience accumulated during her time as an athlete.
