Discover traditional lacquer art with artist To Ngoc Trang

(Dan Tri) - The program "Egg Inlay and Lacquer" with the guidance of artist To Ngoc Trang is an opportunity for the audience to explore traditional lacquer art.
The event took place last weekend at the Area 75 Art Center, with the guidance of artist To Ngoc Trang. Eggshell lacquer is a combination of traditional lacquer art and the use of dried eggshells inlaid onto the surface to create unique patterns.

Painter To Ngoc Trang said that to complete a lacquer product, it takes many steps and a lot of effort. The work is highly unique because of the creativity of the artisan. Preserving and developing the eggshell lacquer technique not only helps preserve cultural values, but is also a way for Vietnamese people to affirm their national identity in the context of international integration. "Each person has an artist in them with a certain dexterity and sophistication. Being able to make it is to open your heart and experience it as an artist," painter To Ngoc Trang shared.
Mr. Pham Quang Dieu - Manager of the Art Center - said that art is a bridge between people and painting, wishing to convey the beauty of lacquer paintings to everyone. "Everyone has initial experiences and visualizations of how to create shapes, thereby expressing each person's own personality through paintings", Mr. Pham Quang Dieu shared. The workshop content includes: Learning about the materials and history of lacquer and the cultural significance of this art form, practicing lacquer painting techniques, creating personal works with the guidance of the artist.
Artist To Ngoc Trang has had a rich artistic journey, spanning many different roles and positions. Artist To Ngoc Trang has participated in many prestigious art exhibitions both domestically and internationally. He has received many awards in the field of illustration such as the Illustration Award from Kim Dong Publishing House (2000), the Illustration Award from Street Bank University, USA (2001), the Illustration Award from the World Publishers Association (2002)... In addition, some of the artist's works have been collected and published in many different countries.
