Western tourists on luxury train Hanoi - Dong Hoi surprised because it is "as beautiful as a hotel"

At 7:00 p.m. on August 10, Yoly (blond hair), a tourist from Spain, and a group of 18 friends were present at Hanoi station, preparing for a trip to Dong Hoi.

She was surprised by the warm welcome of the staff and impressed by the image of the bright red and yellow train, with red flags with yellow stars flying on both sides of the station.

“I was surprised and happy to be the first passenger on this train. Everything was clean, neat and beautiful,” Yoly shared.

She said she had heard that Vietnam's railway was among the top 6 most beautiful railways in the world , so she always looked forward to experiencing it firsthand. During her 9-day trip to Vietnam, Yoly and her friends visited Hanoi, Sa Pa, Ha Long Bay; the next stop was Dong Hoi before ending the trip in Ho Chi Minh City.

“We are very excited to travel from Hanoi to Dong Hoi. Since we are traveling , we can just put all our luggage under the bed and enjoy it comfortably. I hope a night on the train will bring many interesting experiences with friends,” she said.

On the same train as Yoly, Miguel Eskendi, a tourist from Madrid (Spain), said he was impressed from the moment he set foot on the new train. As someone who especially loves Vietnam and its cuisine, Miguel has returned to this land many times.

On this return, he chose to experience the railway with friends and was quickly conquered by the comfort: the train was new, clean, the space was pleasant and the atmosphere was cheerful when traveling with a group. The sleeping compartments were neatly arranged, fully equipped, bringing a relaxing feeling like at home.

Miguel Eskendi shared that he and his group of friends had traveled by train in many countries, but Vietnam offered a completely different and wonderful experience, with beautiful scenery throughout the journey and sunrise on the train.

They rated this train trip 9/10 points and affirmed that they would introduce Vietnam and this special journey to their friends, because they love the people, cuisine and nature here.

The Hanoi - Dong Hoi train is operated by Jinxin Railway Transport and Tourism Company Limited (Vietnam), following the success of the Saigon - Nha Trang route. Mr. Mai The Manh, Deputy General Director of the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company, said that the passenger train consists of 13 high-quality carriages applying advanced technology, which are manufactured and built in Vietnam for the first time.

The train runs on the Hanoi - Dong Hoi railway route and vice versa with a time of 2 days/trip. The Hanoi - Dong Hoi route departs at 20:05 at Hanoi station and arrives at Dong Hoi station at 6:10 the next day. The Dong Hoi - Hanoi route departs at 15:20 at Dong Hoi station and arrives at Hanoi station at 4:15 the next day.

The train has 6 soft sleeper cars and 5 soft seat cars, each soft sleeper car has 28 beds.

The interior of the train is modernly equipped to best serve the needs of passengers. In addition to the wifi system and air conditioning, each bed is equipped with a TV.

The train is also equipped with an odorless, vacuum-cleaning system similar to an airplane. The seats can rotate 360 ​​degrees; there is an electronically controlled braking system that prevents wheel locking in emergency situations requiring deceleration; and there is an axle temperature gauge to increase safety when operating the train.

"In addition to changes in equipment, this train has also been upgraded many times in terms of serving people in the most professional manner. Prices of goods, food, and drinks on the train are not different from the market," said a representative of Dong Hoi Railway Transport Branch.

The average ticket price is 620,000 VND/seat ticket, and 1,135,000 VND/bed ticket for the journey from Hanoi to Dong Hoi. During the first 10 days of opening, passengers will receive a 10% discount.

The Hanoi - Dong Hoi railway route is about 500km long. This luxury train will only stop at some major stations along the route. Travel time is nearly 10 hours. The train is expected to be a bridge for Hanoi residents and international tourists to Dong Hoi, promoting tourism in this province.

Dong Hoi is a city of the old Quang Binh province, now a ward of Quang Tri province, famous for its poetic Nhat Le beach, long white sand dunes and many historical relics.

From here, visitors can easily visit Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, a world natural heritage with a majestic cave system such as Son Doong, Thien Duong, Phong Nha.
