At your own pace
Dinh Tra My (born in 2003, in Hanoi ) said she chose Hue because she needed a peaceful, unhurried place. For My, sometimes she needs to get away from crowded places to be with herself, and Hue is the destination that fully meets that need.
Tra My has heard many compliments from friends and acquaintances about Hue: “They say Hue is wonderful, with beautiful scenery, delicious and cheap food. Anyone who has been here wants to come back.” My shared and said that she has watched many videos of young people traveling alone to Hue.
“Traveling with friends or family is definitely fun, but because everyone has different interests and physical abilities, it sometimes takes a lot of time to travel and arrange schedules. In addition, I also want to spend time for myself to feel and experience Hue to the fullest, at my own pace” - Tra My confided.
Before the trip, Dinh Tra My had prepared herself mentally, comfortably and planned. The luggage was the same as when traveling with many people. "Of course, I had to carry all the things myself, it was a bit heavy but in return, I had full control over everything as I wanted," My said.
Every trip is a relaxing time
With the same purpose of finding a peaceful place, Pham Le Tuyet Suong (born in 2002, in Da Nang) did not prepare too many things for this solo trip.
Tuyet Suong said that sometimes she will allow herself to travel alone. Sharing about those memories, Suong said: "Although I don't go often, every time I go is a time to relax." With the trip to Hue, Tuyet Suong said that when traveling alone, she will feel Hue more deeply and more quietly than when traveling with others. The people of Hue are gentle and not hasty. They make Tuyet Suong feel secure.
Thinking back to the days of wandering around Hue alone, Suong thinks the moment of sitting by the Perfume River in the early morning is the moment that makes her feel the most “worthwhile” in this journey. “I did nothing, just sat still. Yet I felt much lighter”, Tuyet Suong shared.
Suong also enjoys wandering around Hue in the afternoons without any prior plans. According to Tuyet Suong, traveling alone is an experience that should be had once in a lifetime: “Traveling alone is not as scary as we think. It is a way to know how much better we are.”
Until now, when recalling her visit to Hue, Tuyet Suong still remembers clearly the wonderful experiences that this city brought. “If you need a place to rest, come to Hue. And if possible, go alone to have your own feelings” - Suong shared.
Go not because lonely
For Nguyen Bao Huy (born in 2004, in Ho Chi Minh City), the visit to Hue was part of a research trip to study ancient capital in the graphic design program at Van Lang University. After going with the group, Huy took time to admire the quiet beauty of Hue alone.
Bao Huy compares Hue to the flow of a river: “When traveling with a group, Hue moves at a fast pace, like a dynamic friend, friendly to everyone, always bright, bustling and somewhere in a hurry because of the fear of missing something. But when traveling alone, Hue and I seem to drift together in the evening. Therefore, I see Hue much more leisurely, everyday like two close friends walking around the city together, at those times I am as still as a mouse and let all my true feelings be awakened by Hue like the natives here”.
In Bao Huy's eyes, the people of Hue appear with 3 words: Sincere - Cute - Enthusiastic. "These are exactly the 3 keywords that I use to describe the feelings that linger in me when talking about the people of Hue" - Huy affirmed.
From the driver's enthusiastic response to his questions, to the cuteness of the two men selling drinks while chatting about Hue food, all helped Bao Huy feel the sincerity and warmth in every gesture and word of the people here.
For Huy, every moment of this journey is precious. Bao Huy loves to walk around the streets and alleys of Hue with all their shapes, loves to visit pagodas, to witness the massive architecture with many "captivating" patterns... "And all those moments are deeply imprinted in my mind, extremely valuable and precious" - Bao Huy said.
Nguyen Bao Huy also affirmed that traveling alone is one of the most wonderful experiences that everyone should be brave enough to take. According to Bao Huy, traveling alone is not because you are lonely or isolated. Huy believes that the decision to spend some time during the research trip to explore Hue alone was the right decision.
