The workshop "Independence Tet Meal" was just organized by Ngon Garden in the joyful atmosphere of the whole country towards the Great Day of September 2.
"Independence Day Meal" with dishes from the three regions of North - Central - South
Inspired by the simple meal that President Ho Chi Minh was welcomed by his compatriots on the first day he returned to Hanoi from the war zone, the workshop brought diners back to the values of their roots - where the spirit of independence is associated with a family meal.
At the end of August 1945, Uncle Ho returned to Hanoi from the Viet Bac resistance base. Before he entered the inner city to prepare for the sacred moment of declaring to the world that Vietnam was completely independent, he spent 3 days, from August 23 to 25, 1945, living at the house of Mrs. Nguyen Thi An, a revolutionary base, in Phu Thuong village, Hanoi.
Here, Mrs. Nguyen Thi An and her family cooked simple dishes for Uncle Ho such as taro soup, banana soup, bean soup, various vegetables, and sometimes chicken porridge...
The workshop attracted the attention of many diners.
Journalist Vinh Quyen, a special guest of the workshop, who has a deep passion for Vietnamese cuisine , shared that each dish carries a story about culture and history.
The meal is known as a symbol of reunion. That spirit is even more sacred when the country is united, the three regions are under one roof. On the Independence Day meal at Ngon Garden, the flavors of the North - Central - South blend together to create a culinary symphony that is both rich and warm with reunion.
Journalist Vinh Quyen and Ms. Hanh Pham shared at the workshop
From a bowl of sweet and cool Northern soup, a sour salad from the Central region, to a pot of rich braised fish from the South - all blend together to create a family meal, where the spirit of togetherness is deeply engraved.
Diners excitedly enjoy "Independence Day Meal"
Writer Phong Diep expressed his emotion when attending the workshop. This is a very meaningful and warm moment for us to remember the proud days of the nation.
"The word "Independence" for today's youth is just a word that is repeated many times, but to understand meaningfully and deeply the sacrifices of previous generations to have a peaceful day living with their families today, with a warm meal, we have had to make many sacrifices. This is an opportunity to review history, the past, understand the cultural identity of the nation through each dish, through the feelings of the chefs conveyed through each dish." - the writer expressed.
The meal had dishes from the North and Central regions - dishes from Uncle Ho's hometown and dishes from the South.
Ms. Hanh Pham, founder of Ngon Garden, shared that the "Independence Tet meal" also carries the meaning of national unity, everyone sharing the joy of a family meal, North - Central - South as one family. That is why the meal has dishes from the North, Central - dishes from Uncle Ho's hometown and dishes from the South.
"Independence Day Meal" is not only a culinary workshop, but also a tribute to the past and a reminder for the present. Freedom and independence are preserved not only in history books, but also in moments of reunion at the family dinner table - where the Vietnamese soul is nurtured, so that the national spirit will last forever.
