National foreign television channel expected to launch on National Day September 2

A project for a national foreign television channel has been developed with the tentative name “Vietnam Today”, aiming to launch on the occasion of National Day, September 2.

On the afternoon of June 11, General Secretary To Lam had a working session with the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission on the implementation of tasks after the merger.

Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam requested to promptly evaluate the effectiveness, research and direct the construction of media platforms about Vietnam to international friends (in the immediate future in English, operating 24/7 ) to promote the country's image, provide official information from within the country to countries, organizations and people in the region and the world , affirming the increasingly high role and position of Vietnam in the international arena.

Reporting on this content, Mr. Tong Van Thanh, Director of the Press and Publishing Department (Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission) said that, implementing the direction of the General Secretary on this issue, the Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission has organized many working sessions with relevant agencies; up to now, Vietnam Television has completed the project to establish a national foreign television channel worthy of its stature, the expected name to be submitted for approval to competent agencies is "Vietnam Today".

Director of the Department of Press and Publishing Tong Van Thanh said that currently, relevant units are actively implementing with the goal of striving to launch the channel on the occasion of National Day on September 2, 2025, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country.
