Kante officially joins Al Ittihad Club
The 32-year-old is one of a number of European football stars who have chosen to move to Saudi Arabia, where they can earn high salaries. A dynamic and hard-working midfielder, Kante won the 2018 World Cup with France.
His club career has also been very successful. Kante has won the Champions League and Club World Cup with Chelsea, as well as Premier League titles with Leicester City and Chelsea.
Kante's contract with the London club expires at the end of this month. He has signed a three-year contract with Al Ittihad, a Jeddah-based club, but has not given details of his salary. However, according to British media sources, Kante will receive a salary at Al-Ittihad six times higher than at Chelsea.
"The addition of Kante to Al-Ittihad is considered one of the most famous and influential signings in the history of the club. It is part of the team's efforts to assert itself as the first choice for world- class players in the Saudi Arabian top flight," Al Ittihad's statement added.
Benzema previously joined Al Ittihad.
At Al Ittihad, Kante will wear the number 7 shirt, which he also wore at Chelsea. Current Ballon d'Or winner Benzema joined Al-Ittihad earlier this month, after 14 seasons with Real Madrid, in which he won five Champions League titles, four La Liga titles and three Spanish Cups.
Kante said he was "very excited to play for the Tigers". The Saudi Arabian top flight has already seen the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr in January. Ronaldo's Portugal team-mate Ruben Neves, who is currently at Wolves, is reportedly set to join Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal.
