Israel said Ismail was responsible for anti-Israel activities including rocket attacks and the launch of a surface-to-surface missile into Israel on September 18. The Israeli military also said Muhammad Kabisi and several other senior Hezbollah missile leaders were also killed. Hezbollah has not yet confirmed or denied the information provided by Israel.

Meanwhile, on the same day, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said that an Israeli airstrike on the Haret Hreik area in the southern suburbs of Beirut killed six people and injured 91. According to the Israeli military, they carried out a precision strike on Hezbollah's central headquarters, which they said was "located under residential buildings in the center of the Dahiyeh area" (southern suburb of Beirut). Seven residential buildings were destroyed in the targeted area.

Leading Israeli television channels reported that Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was the target of a large-scale Israeli airstrike in a Beirut suburb. A source close to Hezbollah said that Hassan Nasrallah was safe after a large-scale Israeli airstrike.

On social network X, the Iranian Embassy in Lebanon posted an article saying that the Israeli airstrike on the southern suburbs of Beirut was a dangerous escalation that could change the situation and would “bring the perpetrators a fitting punishment.” Meanwhile, the United Nations said it was on alert over Israeli airstrikes on a “densely populated” area in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital Beirut.
