Xinhua News Agency quoted information from the Iraqi Joint Operations Command (JOC) on August 23 saying that Iraqi security forces conducted an airstrike on an IS hideout in Salahuddin province, killing all gunmen inside.
"Based on intelligence and surveillance conducted over several days, the strike on an IS hideout in eastern Salahuddin province was carried out at 2 a.m. on August 23 local time," the JOC said, adding that the airstrike destroyed the IS hideout and killed all "terrorists" inside.
The report added that Iraqi security forces will continue to hunt down remnants of the IS group in the country.
A security source told Xinhua that at least three IS militants were killed in the attack, including a senior leader of the group.
