Polestar 3 electric car sets Guinness record, runs nearly 1,000 km/charge

Compared to the WLTP standard operating range (706 km), the Polestar 3 electric car can actually go up to 229 km. To put that in perspective, this distance is equivalent to the distance from Hanoi to Hoi An (810 km) with energy left over. During the journey, the car experienced a variety of terrain and weather conditions, including heavy rain. When it reached the 706 km mark (range according to WLTP), the Polestar 3 still had around 20% battery left. Remarkably, even when the screen showed 0%, the car still rolled another 12.8 km before reaching a charging station.
Polestar 3 has an actual consumption of only 12.1 kWh/100 km, significantly more economical than the manufacturer's specifications (17.6 - 20.3 kWh/100 km) for a 2.4-ton SUV. This record breaks the 916.75 km record of the Ford Mustang Mach-E (2024), but still falls short of the Lucid Air Grand Touring - the electric sedan that holds the title with 1,205 km on a single charge. However, compared to an aerodynamically optimized sedan, the Polestar 3 SUV's achievement is still extremely impressive.
The Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor is equipped with a rear-wheel drive electric motor that produces 295 horsepower and 490 Nm of torque. The car can accelerate from 0 - 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds. The 107 kWh NMC battery pack supports 250 kW DC fast charging, allowing 10 - 80% charging in 30 minutes. In addition, the car is equipped with high-end Brembo brakes, 400 mm discs, 4-piston brake calipers. Users can choose the Pilot Pack with LiDAR sensor, supporting semi-autonomous driving on the highway. Polestar was previously Volvo’s performance division (similar to Mercedes’ AMG). It is now a standalone premium electric car brand based in Sweden, with financial and manufacturing backing from the Geely Group (China).
In the first half of 2025 alone, Polestar sold 30,319 cars globally, up 51% compared to the same period in 2024. In the UK alone - the company's largest market - sales reached 8,323 cars, up 203%. In contrast, the gloomy Chinese market has led Polestar to plan to withdraw from the country by the end of 2025. Video : Polestar 3 electric car sets Guinness record, running nearly 1,000 km/charge.
