On March 24, Iran denied media reports that its oil tankers seized by the US Navy in the Persian Gulf had forged Iraqi documents.

According to Iran's Deputy Oil Minister Ali-Mohammad Mousavi, the reports of Iraqi Oil Minister Hayan Abdel-Ghani saying that Iranian oil tankers seized by the US Navy were carrying Iraqi cargo manifests are not true.

In an interview with Shana news agency, which is affiliated with Iran's Oil Ministry, Mr. Mousavi stated that Iran has sold oil in accordance with the regulations and criteria for oil trading.

The Iraqi Oil Minister’s statements were not fully reflected and he only quoted US officials. Mr. Mousavi added that the statements by US officials were baseless accusations and aimed at pressuring Iran. The statement had no basis and no credibility.

Iran's move comes as the US steps up unilateral sanctions on Iran's oil exports.

Earlier last month, President Donald Trump increased pressure on Iran to bring its oil exports to zero and prevent the use of oil revenues for Iran's nuclear program./.
