Hong Anh said that on April 30, 2025, her husband let her review her mother-in-law's diary. In it, there was a diary page written exactly on April 30, 1975, which made her very emotional.

Hong Anh's mother-in-law is from the North. In her diary on that special day, she expressed her excitement when she heard the news of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.

She wrote as if shouting: "Victory. From now on, our children will forever escape the life of a soldier, escape the days of hardship and bullets on the battlefield... The atmosphere in the capital has never been as exciting as it is today."

Hong Anh was sad because her mother-in-law passed away 3 years ago due to a serious illness. She thought that if she were still alive, she would be very happy today to read her notes from years ago.

After that, Hong Anh texted her mother in the West. Her family was also watching the April 30th celebration live on TV. Old memories came back, Hong Anh's mother said that exactly 50 years ago, she was also marching to Saigon.

Her younger brother entered from Bay Hien intersection, while she and her husband took Cu Chi road, arriving at the Go Vap ammunition depot on April 29, 1975. On the way to Saigon, many of her comrades sacrificed their lives…

In her emotion, she told her daughter Hong Anh: "You are very lucky to be alive today, my child!". Her mother's words made Hong Anh's heart ache, she expressed that she felt extremely lucky to have grown up when the country was no longer bombed.

"Two mothers, one from the North, one from the South, but sharing a common desire for peace" - Hong Anh wrote. And that is also the desire of many people.
