Kien Giang Journalists Association trains in applying artificial intelligence skills in journalism

The training course had over 75 participants, including members, reporters, editors at press agencies; journalist branches, clubs under the Kien Giang Provincial Journalists Association; reporters from Cultural, Sports and Broadcasting Centers of districts and cities in the province; editors of some electronic information portals of agencies and units in the province.

Speaking at the opening of the training course, Journalist Doan Hong Phuc - Permanent Vice President of the Kien Giang Provincial Journalists Association said: This is one of the activities to help press agencies, including members, reporters and journalists, access modern technology in press production of all types of print, radio and television, contributing to the goal of "Building a professional, humane and modern press and media" as determined by the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

With the goal of “quality, efficiency, practicality”, the training course will meet the requirements of reporters and editors according to the trend of modern press production, serving the working process, creating works of printed newspapers, electronic newspapers, radio, television, and propaganda tasks on electronic information portals. At the same time, improving the qualifications and professional skills of members, reporters, and journalists at branches and press agencies in the province…”

The training course took place over 2 days, the first of which was topic 1 "Application of artificial intelligence in journalism" for reporters and editors. Trainees were instructed on how to apply technology to convert video tapes and audio recordings into text saved on computers or phones; Apply artificial intelligence to become a tool for reporters and editors to exploit information; Apply technology to convert online meeting content into text without having to attend the meeting but still take full notes; Apply technology to help field reporters work quickly without having to type articles or send emails, but the editorial office can still see the content and edit articles in text.

Topic 2 is “Application of artificial intelligence in post-production of radio and television products” for those who work in post-production, editing, and reviewing works and press products (people who work in professional management and technical programming). Students participating in topic 2 are guided to apply technology to extract voice from video, wave, mp3 to convert into Vietnamese subtitles or create voice, read multi-language commentary.
