Pursuant to the Decision of the Minister of National Defense on organizing activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, the General Staff has directed the Vietnam Institute of Defense Strategy and History to preside over and coordinate with agencies and units to develop a plan to organize a scientific conference to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

The workshop had the theme “The General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army - 80 years of building, fighting and growing, steadily entering the new era of the nation”. The workshop focused on clarifying the process of building, fighting and growing with the outstanding contributions of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army in the revolutionary cause, contributing with the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people to build and firmly protect the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam. Thereby, drawing on historical experiences and lessons to apply in building a strategic staff agency that is lean, compact, strong and modern, meeting the requirements and tasks of building and firmly protecting the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam in the new situation.

Implementing the above direction, the Vietnam Institute of Defense Strategy and History has proactively coordinated with relevant agencies and units to carry out all preparatory work; organized the presentation of historical witnesses and scientists inside and outside the Army; the content ensures objectivity, science, and new contributions in theory and practice, especially the significance in building and organizing the current People's Army.

Concluding the conference, General Nguyen Tan Cuong emphasized that this conference is one of the most important and meaningful political activities in the series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; requiring agencies and units to further promote their sense of responsibility; be proactive, positive, and strive to fulfill assigned tasks well, contributing to the overall success of the conference.

To ensure the conference is thoughtful and solemn, in accordance with the content and program as planned, General Nguyen Tan Cuong requested agencies and units to carry out tasks according to the issued conference organization plan; develop detailed coordination content, report to the Steering Committee and notify relevant agencies and units to deploy and ensure good implementation of all aspects of the conference organization.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army noted that it is necessary to focus on the appraisal and editing of the papers according to the plan; coordinate with the People's Army Publishing House to publish the conference proceedings before August 1, 2025. From now until the conference takes place, if any problems arise, agencies and units must promptly report to the Steering Committee for consideration and decision.
