Schools will finish semester 1 before January 15, 2024 and semester 2 before May 25, 2024. Students in grades 5 and 9 will be considered for completion of primary and secondary school programs before June 30, 2024. Admissions to the first level (grades 1, 6, and 10) will be completed before July 31, 2024.

Hanoi also did not specify the time for holidays and Tet in this document but said that it would follow the Labor Code and annual guidance documents. The high school graduation exam schedule will follow separate guidance documents from the Ministry of Education and Training .

In the 2023-2024 school year, Hanoi will have about 2.3 million preschool and primary school students. The number of first graders will increase by nearly 12,000 and sixth graders will increase by nearly 39,000 compared to the previous school year.

Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training issued a framework for the new school year plan and noted that when developing the school year plan, localities must ensure the principle of having enough actual study weeks and being suitable to the characteristics and practical conditions of the locality.

In which, localities ensure that preschooleducation and general education have 35 weeks of actual study (semester I 18 weeks, semester II 17 weeks).

For continuing education (implementing the secondary and high school education programs), grades 9 and 12 of high school have 32 weeks of actual study (16 weeks per semester). Grades 6, 7, 8, 10, and 11 have 35 weeks of actual study (18 weeks for semester I, 17 weeks for semester II).
