After the 0-4 defeat to Malaysia in the second match of Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers on the evening of June 10, coach Kim Sang-sik analyzed: "In the first half, we still maintained the game as planned, but in the second half, after two central defenders were injured, the team had difficulty organizing defense and implementing the game, this was one of the reasons leading to the defeat."

Assessing his opponent, Mr. Kim frankly said: "It must be admitted that Malaysia has become significantly stronger thanks to naturalized players. However, football always has miracles. If we prepare well for the rematch in Hanoi , I think we still have a chance to make up for the four goals we lost today."

The Korean coach said the coaching staff had carefully analyzed the opponent but the Malaysian players performed beyond expectations. “We had a lot of difficulties in dealing with them. However, the whole team will learn valuable lessons from this match to better prepare for the next stage."

Coach Kim also shared about the players’ not-so-perfect physical condition after playing in the V-League. “The original plan was to keep a clean sheet in the first half to create opportunities for attacking players like Quang Hai and Tien Linh to explode in the second half. However, due to injuries in the defense, we could not operate the game as planned.”

Sharing the feelings of the fans, Coach Kim Sang-sik emphasized: “I understand the disappointment of the players as well as the fans. As the head coach, I take full responsibility for this result. Despite the defeat, I believe the players fought with all their might. Football does not always go as planned, but we still have time to fix it and will do our best in the next match.”

He also affirmed that the Vietnamese team will not give up and is determined to stand up strongly for the road ahead.
