For many years now, in the evenings, the Cultural House of Dau Nhuan village, Phu Nhuan commune (Bao Thang district) has been bustling with the activities of physical exercises and folk dances of members of the intergenerational self-help club. According to the members, since joining the club, their spiritual life and health have improved a lot. In addition to exercising together, exchanging culture and arts, the members also actively help each other in life... Ms. Chao Kiem Muong, a member of the intergenerational self-help club of Dau Nhuan village, said: Joining the club, members have the opportunity to exchange and learn from experiences, thereby becoming more connected, contributing to improving the quality of life.

The Dau Nhuan Village Intergenerational Self-Help Club has more than 50 members, of which 70% are elderly. The club focuses on organizing activities to help members increase their income, improve their health care skills; help each other and support the community; mobilize resources to maintain and develop club activities. Ms. Ban Thi Mui, Head of the Dau Nhuan Village Intergenerational Self-Help Club, said: Through the meetings, we grasp the health status and circumstances of each member, thereby promptly visiting and encouraging them. In particular, the club also supports members in difficulty to borrow capital from 5 - 7 million VND/member to develop the economy , take care of health, and help the elderly improve their quality of life.
Established in June 2023, the Coc San Commune Intergenerational Self-Help Club ( Lao Cai City) has become a "common home" for more than 75 elderly people. In addition to organizing physical exercise and health care, the club also coordinates with specialized agencies to organize medical examinations, health monitoring, and communication on stroke prevention, kidney failure, bone and joint diseases, etc. for members. Ms. Ly Thi Kim, Head of the Coc San Commune Intergenerational Self-Help Club, said: After more than 2 years of operation, the club has created a fund to help members develop the economy, renovate their homes, and take care of their health.

Currently, the province has 42 intergenerational self-help clubs with 50 - 70 members/club. According to the assessment of the Provincial Association of the Elderly, most of the clubs operate effectively with many useful contents, helping to improve the spiritual and material quality of life for the elderly in the locality. Notably, the clubs have promoted the role of self-help activities, supporting the community in many forms, such as helping each other harvest agricultural products for sick and lonely households... In addition, the clubs are interested in implementing environmental sanitation work in residential areas, planting flowers to create a "green - clean - beautiful" landscape, actively contributing to the construction of advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas...

Ms. Ha Thi Thiep, President of the Provincial Elderly Association, said: In order for the clubs to operate effectively, the Provincial Elderly Association has coordinated with sponsors, authorities, and organizations to regularly survey, inspect, and monitor to evaluate the operation situation.
At the same time, guide, share experiences and discuss ways to solve difficulties in club management and operation; organize training on skills and knowledge for officials of the elderly association at district and commune levels and the club management boards.
In the coming time, the Provincial Association of the Elderly will continue to expand and promote the effectiveness of the activities of intergenerational self-help clubs with the goal of establishing 15 new clubs in the period of 2025 - 2030; mobilizing the participation of all levels, sectors and the community to improve the quality of health care and protect the rights of the elderly.
