Pin and remember why Vietnam lost to Indonesia

“ Now it’s time for us to look forward to March. There’s nothing better than the Vietnamese team repaying the debt against Indonesia. I hope so. The recent defeat is something I don’t want. Let’s pin it down and remember why we lost so that this March, we’re ready to face them again, in front of the cheers of 80,000 – 90,000 spectators from the other team. Let’s fight for what we’ve done, with a stronger spirit ,” captain Do Hung Dung told his teammates in the Vietnamese team before returning to the club.

At the 2023 Asian Cup, the Vietnamese team suffered a 0-1 defeat against the Indonesian team. This defeat forced Hung Dung and his teammates to say goodbye to the tournament from the group stage. Meanwhile, the Indonesian team squeezed through a narrow gap to enter the round of 16.

Captain Do Hung Dung wants the Vietnamese team to learn lessons and make corrections when meeting Indonesia again.

The Vietnamese team lost all 3 matches, did not gain any points, conceded 8 goals and scored 4 goals. Compared to the initial goal of winning 1 match or getting a ticket to the next round, the Vietnamese team did not complete the task.

Do Hung Dung commented: “ The Vietnamese team has not had the desired results in the last 3 matches. We participated in the tournament with a force including many players participating in the tournament for the first time. But for me, regardless of whether the players played or not, we tried our best in every training session, from the first day to the last. Your efforts and dedication deserve recognition.

You should also be proud of having given your best to the Fatherland. Even though we lost, we all tried our best until the last minute. Not every national team can do that, even when we were down a man. That is something I am very proud of .”

According to the midfielder born in 1993, he is an older player and this could be his last Asian Cup. Hung Dung is very happy to be with the young players. He hopes that the juniors will soon become brave players and the Vietnamese team has no age boundaries.

“ Maybe next time this player will be called up, that player will not be called up. But what you have experienced is a beautiful memory. The important thing is that we have the opportunity to continue. A failure is not a problem. Tomorrow the sun will rise again and we will go out to the field to train, to fight for what is waiting ahead.

For a player, being able to play on the field is the most wonderful thing. When we were young, we all wanted to play for the Vietnam national team. Now, we have done it ,” concluded the captain of the Vietnam national team.
