Thousands of discarded health food boxes come from 'counterfeit' company

On June 10, the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Police Department expanded its investigation and searched businesses related to Natural Care Green Health Company Limited, of which Son is the director.

According to the investigation, from May 28 to June 3, Son hired people to clean up the warehouse, with the request to take 80 cartons containing boxes, 167 boxes containing functional foods to throw away or burn, in an empty lot next to Nguyen Van Linh Street (Binh Chanh District). The price for this job was 7 million VND.

Two months ago, he heard that the pharmaceutical companies MEDIUSA and Mediphar were being prosecuted by the Ministry of Public Security for trading in fake functional foods, so he recalled the products and destroyed the shipment worth 500 million VND.

Son admitted that at the headquarters of Natural Care Green Health Company (District 12) and a location in Binh Chanh District, there were still some goods that had not been destroyed. These were 14 types of functional foods returned by buyers, including more than 3,600 boxes of products purchased from the two companies above.

At noon four days ago, people discovered functional food boxes, blister packs, and liquid tubes scattered in many piles on an empty lot next to Nguyen Van Linh Street - about a kilometer from Binh Dien Market. Most of the products have expiration dates until 2026 and 2028.

The investigation agency recorded 5 locations with boxes labeled with functional foods with a quantity of about 95 types, including more than 3,400 boxes.

Natural Care Green Health Company's goods were seized by the police.

On April 27, Nguyen Nang Manh (Director of MegaPhaco Company, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MEDIUSA Company - headquartered in Hoang Mai District, Hanoi ), Do Manh Hoang (Director of MediPhar Company), Khuc Minh Vu (Director of Viet Duc Company), Pham Thi Huong (accountant in charge of 4 companies), Le Thi Toan (treasurer of 6 companies) were temporarily detained by the Department of Police Investigation of Crimes of Corruption, Economy, and Smuggling (C03, Ministry of Public Security) for the act of Producing and trading in counterfeit goods such as food, foodstuffs, food additives or Violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences.

These people are accused of counterfeiting hundreds of tons of functional foods. The group's counterfeiting method is to buy raw materials from floating sources, or from China, and then label the products as imported from the US or Europe. Many of the product ingredients are only less than 30% of the declared amount.
