Accordingly, in order to meet the increased travel demand during the Lunar New Year 2025, Vietnam Airlines will lease 3 more Airbus A320 aircraft from January 13 to February 12, 2025. These aircraft will be delivered to Vietnam Airlines under a wet lease (including flight crew), of which 2 aircraft will land at Tan Son Nhat on the afternoon of January 10 and one will land on January 13, 2025.

The additional aircraft have a capacity of 180 passengers, operating on routes between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi , Hai Phong, Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Da Nang, and Chu Lai. These aircraft will contribute about 75,000 seats, equivalent to more than 400 flights during this year's Tet holiday.

The aircraft leasing is part of Vietnam Airlines' plan to provide more than 2.15 million seats on domestic flights, equivalent to more than 11,000 flights to serve people returning home for Tet and Spring travel.

Also in December 2024, Vietnam Airlines received 3 new aircraft including 2 Airbus A320neo aircraft and a Boeing 787-10 wide-body aircraft. Along with the wet leasing of additional A320 aircraft, the airline is ready to have a fleet of more than 100 aircraft to serve passengers during the Lunar New Year 2025.

Vietjet Air also said that in the first days of 2025, to serve people during the peak Lunar New Year season, the airline has increased its fleet of 4 wet-lease aircraft. The aircraft arrived in Vietnam on the night of January 8 and were put into service on both domestic and international routes, with priority given to peak routes from the South to the North, and routes serving people during the Spring Festival.

It is known that in 2024, Vietjet received 10 new aircraft, bringing the total number of aircraft to 115, operating on 170 routes covering Vietnam and internationally. With the increase in aircraft, passengers can easily choose Vietjet flights to return home for Tet or travel to new destinations in Australia, India, China, Japan and Southeast Asia.

Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam sent a document to Vietnamese airlines about increasing additional flights to serve passengers during the Lunar New Year 2025. As of January 6, 2025, some domestic routes in the days before and after the Lunar New Year had a high booking rate of over 90%.
