According to Yonhap news agency, Vostok Intur travel agency based in Vladivostok (Russia) has started promoting tours for foreign tourists to North Korea's new beach resort, after a period of temporarily stopping accepting foreigners.
According to information on the company's website, Vostok Intur will offer a package tour to the Kalma resort in Wonsan city from August 25 to September 1.
On the first day, tourists will take a car from Vladivostok to Khasan station (Russia), then transfer to a train to enter North Korea via Tumen River station, and then continue to the tourist area.
7 nights 8 days package includes 4 star hotel accommodation, all meals and Russian speaking guide.
For groups of 3-5 people, the tour price is 1,250 USD/person plus 20,000 rubles (about 250 USD), totaling about 1,500 USD/person; larger groups will receive a discount.
The company describes it as a unique opportunity to experience Korean culture and history, largely untouched by the West.
North Korea opened its Kalma beach resort on July 1 but abruptly stopped welcoming foreign tourists on July 18, sparking speculation that the move was to fix shortcomings discovered during trial operations./.
